Da's Organic Farm Hut Thai Cooking school

Da's cooking class was truly one of the most meaningful experiences of our time in Thailand. From the very beginning, it felt personal and special. Da, himself, picked us up at our hotel, and, based on our dietary preferences, guided us through a local market where he selected fresh ingredients while explaining their uses. From there, we went to his home, where are the experience became even more awesome. We "shopped" directly from his garden, learning about local produce, and herbs, tasting each one, and gaining a real appreciation for Thai ingredients. Da then patiently taught us, the techniques needed to prepare for incredible authentic Thai dishes. Every step was hands-on, informative, and filled with warmth. Da and his family were gracious, welcoming, and hospitable. Each dish we prepared was delicious and beautifully presented. As a final touch,Da gifted, each of us, a hand made last elephant to take home. Afterward, Da drove us back to our hotel. This is not just a cooking class, it's an authentic cultural experience and one we will always treasure from Thailand.

This was the best tourist activity I did during my 2 months in Thailand. Da facilitates a wonderful cooking class for small groups (it was only my friend and I!). Going to the market was a highlight as Da was able to answer our many questions. His garden/home is gorgeous and the food was amazing. I can not recommend this class enough! If you do the afternoon session, make sure to bring bug spray.

This was one of the best things we did in Thailand! Da is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and speaks excellent English. He took us through the recipes we chose one by one, without any rushing and answering all of our questions. We made four super tasty dishes and then got to sit and enjoy them in his beautiful garden. Shout out to his wife who works very hard behind the scenes and who helped us dish up our plates beautifully. Overall a really lovely experience and absolutely recommended.

The food was made with ingredients hand picked from his organic garden and the flavour was unmatched! He also gave us a tour of his garden and explained how he grew everything, he even let us try a few things! Cooking was fun and easy and the results were delicious! We even got to watch the sunset while we ate!! Highly recommend!!

He was so kind and insightful, we loved chatting and being told the backstory of all the elements. We cannot recommend this class enough, and the food was so flavourful and fresh!

An amazing afternoon at DA’s cooking class. He picked us and two other girls up and took us to the markets to get our ingredients. He then took us to his farm and talked us through all the different ingredients etc. Da was an incredible host, really sweet and spoke excellent English too! He even gifted us a hand made elephant ornament which was a lovely touch to round off a nice day. It is smaller groups which we enjoyed as we got to know the other two girls really well and became friends with them! Amazing day, would recommend to anyone, 10/10. Thanks Da xx

Da is a great person with a calm and happy energy. His farm/garden is a great place, a quite retreat about half an hour away from the city center. The class starts with a tour to the local market. Seeing Da do the shopping for the class while telling us s bit about all the produce being sold was a great start of our day. The cooking class itself takes place in Da's outside kitchen (under a roof) in the middle of his beautiful garden. Nothing was rushed, we even made our own curry paste from cratch. After feating on our, self prepared, four course meal Da brought us back to our accommodation. We could not have been more happy with this class and the surroundings. Best cooking class in town. Without a doubt.

Exactly what we wanted ! A small format . Da was a gracious host, picked us up at our hotel, brought us to the market to buy what we were making . The class is at his home, showed us around his organic farm and we cooked enough for a king! Fabulous food, great instruction and a very peaceful setting. Highly recommend✨✨✨✨✨

Da and his family have a lovely farm in a very pretty setting. From the trip to the local market to the organic farm, we learned a lot. Da showed us interesting fruit and veggies and taught us great flavors and techniques for cooking. Be sure to come hungry, there will be a lot of food that is fantastic. Joining this Thai cooking class was an absolute highlight of our trip! It was a wonderful experience to be welcomed into a local’s home and learn to cook authentic Thai dishes firsthand. Our host, was incredibly friendly and it was clear how passionate he is about Thailand and how knowledgeable he is about what he does.

The food we made under his guidance was very tasty. Da is a friendly man who gives cooking lessons together with his wife, which we would like to recommend.

We were collected, and taken to the local market, got all the food we was going to cook , (very fresh ) now for someone who doesn’t normally cook , I thought I would struggle, but no , with full guidance , both of us cooked the most amazing meal I have tasted. We both made different starters , main , and desert . I thought it would only be a main meal, but no , and we sat down and ate it , absolutely scrumptious. I am going to make the same when we get back , great value , and a very good chef helping us . Thank you so much .

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Da and his brother this morning. We were picked up at precisely the time arranged, taken to the market to buy a few items for cooking and Da was also very informative about all the different kinds of produce in the market and then we had a short journey to Da's farm. We were made to feel at home and we were given clear guidance on how to make the dishes we had chosen. We both had a fantastic time and made more food than we could eat. Each dish was delicious. I would recommend this experience to anyone.

We chose this class over a few other options due to the intimate atmosphere, and certainly made the right decision! I’ve done other cooking classes, and this one felt the most authentic - Da invited us into his home/farm where we met his family, and we happened to be the only ones that day which made it more intimate and special. The best part is that he actually shared a lot of interesting info about the local area’s culture and history.

Da and his brother Sart (sounds like Sah), were absolutely amazing. I can't recommend this experience enough. I was fortunate enough to be able to get the place to myself for the day, and both of the brothers kept it lighthearted, fun, and educational. I asked many questions and for each question i asked, they were eager and willing to explain. Not to mention the food they helped me make was absolutely amazing 🤌. If you're looking for a great place to start cooking thai food, please consider giving these guys a try. I promise you won't regret it 😊

We had so much fun and the food was delicious. There are more famous cooking schools in Chiang Mai, but we wanted a more local experience and this was an excellent choice! The best part was that the children were able to participate in the entire class.

We went to a local market, saw the ingredients in person, bought them, and even kindly explained them to us! We were able to make dishes using the ingredients we purchased that day and vegetables we grew ourselves, experiencing and feeling the various flavors and aromas of Thai food! I was worried because I'm not good at cooking, but I kept getting compliments and compliments. The cooking class was also really pretty! At the end, they even emailed me the recipes.👍👍

wonderful experience. He picked us up on time, right down to the minute. Not everything for the cooking class is bought at the market, so there is more time to explain and demonstrate. The cooking class then takes place at his home after a short tour of his garden. Da was always present and told stories without being intrusive. The spiciness of the food can be adjusted and the dishes are super tasty. There were two of us, and he said he had already given courses for one participant. Highly recommended to anyone who would like to have an authentic cooking class.

This cooking class was an amazing cultural experience. Da, the local organic farmer, took us to the market first to get some of the ingredients. Then, we went to his house where he taught us how to cook 5 different dishes. The setting was outdoors under his covered patio, and he gave us great insights with his expertise. We booked a 1/2 day class “Da” our instructor picked us up right on time and We rode in the back of his truck to his farm. He showed us his garden with the herbs he uses. We chose and cooked 4 Dishes each. Sooo good. We were picked up about 8:30am an returned about 2 pm. Good value.

We had a blast - starting with the market tour and Da explaining the ingredients and where they come from - to "exploring" his garden and tasting different local herbs we would later use for cooking our meals. The cooking class itself was organized well and every step was explained in detail. We had a wide range of dishes to chose from and they could be adapted to each individuals preferences regarding spiciness. After cooking we could all enjoy a tasty meal together. Really great experience which grants some insights into the local cuisine.

It was a great time with Da to have a market tour together and get detailed explanation on the ingredients and recipes. Having a time in Mr Da’s own farm was also wonderful. It was so fun to learn how to cook Thai food and taste the food that I made on my own in a local place with a local cooking teacher. So great!

This experience was so special it blew our minds! Da our chef/rice farmer is a lovely humble man. After taking us to tour the market for food, he took us to his home on stilts, over a fish pond in the quiet rice paddy's outside of town and we met his family and cooked 4 brilliant tasty dishes. Before we cooked we toured his garden to try all the fruit, veg, and herbs he grows. Da was patient and kind and the food was so tasty! So good! This was a really touching experience we loved, so authentic and not forced. Its a 10/10 for me and I would recommend it to everyone. Simply brilliant!

Even as someone who never cooks, this was the best thing I’ve done on a trip. Market visit, garden tour, patient instruction, amazing food.

Eine der besten Erfahrungen die wir in Thailand gemacht haben!! Nachdem wir von unserem Hostel abgeholt wurden sind wir auf den Wochenmarkt gefahren und dort wurde uns alles liebevoll auf gutem Englisch erklärt. Sachen die wir nicht direkt kannten durften wir sogar probieren. Die Hauseigene Gartenführung im Anschluss war auch super interessant :) Der zweistündige Kochkurs war sowohl für mich als Kochbegeisterten, als auch für meine Freundin die überhaupt nicht gerne kocht, eine super Erfahrung. Alles wird Schritt für Schritt erklärt und ein kleines Highlight ist, dass die meisten Zutaten aus dem eigenen Garten kommen. Meines Wissens können auch maximal 6 Personen gleichzeitig teilnehmen, was sehr angenehm ist. Das selbst gemachte Essen danach war super lecker und sah besser aus als in jedem Restaurant. Das einzige Problem war das es viel zu viel war aber wir durften den Rest einfach mitnehmen :) Als nettes Andenken bekommt man am Ende noch ein kleines Büchlein (in dem übrigens alle Rezepte nochmal drinstehen). Alles in allem können wir nur jedem empfehlen der sich in Chiang Mai aufhält diesen Kochkurs zu besuchen! :)
