Very professional and lovely time with a well planned, informative and knowledgable instructor/chef! Recommend for people who don’t like cooking like me or who love ramen and want to learn some tips and trix!
I had a great time learning how to make everything from scratch. Instructions were very detailed and Fumi even gives good tips on how to do things faster. She is an excellent teacher and made it very easy to learn even for people with no cooking experience! They also did a great job accommodating the vegans in our group. At the end of this day, it was very fun and the food tasted great!
She did an excellent job. Very patient with the children.
Fumi was a great instructor and had us engaged the whole time. We learned how to make two types of gyoza and ramen from scratch. It was especially fun to cover the dough in plastic and knead with our feet— a technique used in ancient times when fancy equipment was not available. I recommend this class as a little escape from the bustling Osaka routine.
The class was super fun and very informative! I loved learning the details about each ingredient and technique. Fumi-san was super friendly and informative. I highly highly recommend it!!! Also, the noodles came out delicious~
My daughter and I had a wonderful time in this class. We would highly recommend it!
Loved the class. It was well structured, very easy to follow and informative. Fumi was a delight and she ensured that the kids enjoyed it and we all were capable of making Ramen and noodles by the end.
Great experience! We made 3 types of ramen from scratch! We got all kinds of information about the ingredients and how to prepared the dishes, step by step! It was very enjoyable! Loved it!
Fumi and her nephew Rei were very welcoming and helpful throughout the entire process. The class was exactly from 11:30-2ish and you get time to eat your food there as well! For those who might be concerned with taking a Japanese cooking class, Fumi's English is pretty much flawless. Would definitely recommend!!
Such a great class and learned so much! Fun it and her nephew Rei were so nice, helpful and very knowledgeable
The Bento cooking class with instructor Fumi-San was highly enjoyable and instructive. We cooked a set of seven dishes (!), and in addition we got to assemble our own little bento box. Each step was interactive, easy to follow and informative, for example Fumi-San explained the difference between different kinds of Soy Sauce and between using Sake, Mirin or Sugar. The cooking studio is located centrally in a very modern building. Everything was well organized and highly recommendable. Thank you again for a lovely experience!
We were 6 participants and the process was planned quite great. The cook was very very friendly and competent. The process was very well organized and we were well guided through the processes. There were also very funny circumstances. In the end we had three very delicious meals. I can highly recommend this workshop with Fumi. Unfortunately, we can not upload pictures yet, because we could not take pictures for hygiene reasons. However, we are still to be sent pictures that Fumi took of us.
funny and delicious recept. I like that happy atmosphere cooking lesson. I will back learning from Fumi San when I go to Umeda. Thank you Fumi San!
We had a great time learning out to making 3 types of ramen fully from scratch! Making the noodles was especially fun, with new techniques. Our teacher gave us some awesome tips and tricks throughout the class too.
Highly recommend the class. Ramen was great.
My husband and I had a great time learning to make sushi with Fumi! She warmly welcomed us into her home for the class, was friendly and well prepared. We felt the class was unique from others as it combines sushi with miso soup and yakitori - we were both stuffed by the end of it! It was well executed and we were happy to finally learn how to make one of our favorite foods! Would certainly recommend Fumi and Sakura Cooks for this class!
Fun 3 hours! Loved how we learned “home cooking” shortcuts, yet incredibly flavorful! Highly recommend!!
The bento box class was very informative and lots of fun. Fumi is a great host and teacher. She had everything so organized and efficiently prepared and she supervised while we did all the " hands on" work. We made dashi from scratch, wagyu beef, fried shrimp, salad, nigiri and a few veggies. She showed us how to arrange everything into our bento boxes. It was also nice that she took photos throughout the class and sent them to us afterwards. Highly recommended.
I had such a wonderful time. Awesome teacher. Beautiful experience.
It's as advertised. The only thing I was expecting, but wasn't done, is to cut the ramens by hand with a knife, instead of using a machine, but it's OK.
Fumi the instructor was amazing! The prior preparations and details on how to make ramen, made this class a highlight of our trip to Japan.
We learned to prepare 3 different kinds of ramen step by step. Fumi explained us every step and why it is done in this way. It was a very nice atmosphere and we could ask every curiosity that came in our mind. We could bring home the recipe and many good tips about general japanese cuisine and where to find all the needed ingredients. Additionally, Fumi took many photos of us while cooking which was a nice memory of this great experience. If you like Ramen and cooking, we highly recommend this class!
Myself and my husband did this course and we both really enjoyed it. Fumi is a great teacher and speaks good English. We start by making homemade noodles from scratch, followed by preparing the meet and veg, and finally making the different soup bases for the noodles. Fumi is great at explaining how to do it and giving us some good tips. Then you get to eat everything that you made. Ramen is a great dish to learn and I hope to recreate it back in ireland when we get home.
Excellent Good pace, English, explanation, hygiene, Japanese tips, catering for vegetarian and best of all 3 delicious different ramen to eat at the end!
We learn a lot of how to make miso soup from scratch and also the art of sushi making . It’s not as easy as it seems . All ingredients are fresh and yummy
The chef who guide us through our sushi making class was clear and concise . The children had a lot of fun !
I booked the 3 ramen cooking course for my husband and I, the location was very easy to find and it was just us two for the cooking course. Fumi was lovely, very friendly and knowledgable, she took us through each process in a calm and friendly manner, Fumi spoke very good English and answered all our questions as well as showing us extra tips. Can't rate this experience enough, would highly recommend It!
This class was so fun and informative and most of all, DELICIOUS. Fumi is an amazing teacher and fun to learn with. I felt the price, amount of food and overall experience were worth every penny. Also the location was really nice. There are many shops around to explore as well as cafes for a little after meal coffee. Would definitely take more courses on my next visit and suggest it to my traveling foodie friends as well.
Fumi was a supernice instructor, we had some nice chats since we were the only customer that day. Having a private cooking class made it feel more warm and local experience.
A very enjoyable and fun class. We learned to make noodles from scratch, and cook two different kinds of meat. Our mouths were watering throughout the class as we couldn't wait to eat the ramen by the end of class. It smelled so good! Very happy to take this recipe back home to enjoy with our family and friends =)
A great clasee...thoroughly enjoyed it. Teacher was great
We had a ton of fun and learned so much during our cooking class. It was also some of the best sushi we ate during our 3 weeks in Japan. Would definately reccomend.
The owner and instructor is very kind and pleasant. Her instruction was thorough, explaining why you do or do not do things, which was really appreciated. The sashimi fish was good quality and the meal we made was very filling. The recipes and photos to take home was the cherry on top. We enjoyed the experience! Fumi’s English is excellent.
A very cozy place to learn and enjoy the class. Our teacher is friendly and makes ramen-making fun and easy. We feel great about making our own ramen the first time!
My friend and I took the Beginner’s cooking class yesterday with Ms. Fumiyo Okamoto, who was extremely kind and welcoming! My friend is vegan and so we were delighted to see that the class provided a vegan option! We learnt to make some delicious miso and sashimi! The tutor was very patient and we had the best time!!!! We are here for 3 months so will definitely book another class too!
I had a lovely time during my class. I was met by very friendly Fumi. She taught me have to make noodles from scratch and I really loved it. I actually made 3 home made style ramen and it tasted really great. I would recommend this class to everyone interested in cooking ramen. Thomas Finborud
Fumi and her assistant made us feel very welcome at their small place in the middle of Osaka. Getting to know the Japanese cuisine a bit better while cooking 3 kinds of Ramen was a lot of fun and also has given us a basic understanding of the ingredients. With the provided recipes we are looking forward to trying it out at home. Definitely a recommendation!
We had a really fun time and everything we made tasted delicious. My children would love to do it again one of the best things did in Japan. I highly recommend it.
We thoroughly enjoyed the class, never knew that freshly made Ramen can be so tasty! Fumi is an excellent teacher and a very good cook! Thank you for the experience.
If you love sushi then you have come to the right place. This was the highlight of our trip! Definitely! The instructor was very knowledgeable and his skills were amazing! everything was organized and already set up for us. He first introduced Japanese culture and the importance of Japanese spices to enhance each dish. We were able to prepare and recreate Traditional Japanese soup, Sushi, Tempura and Sashimi and other home cooking! They have such a homey atmosphere and you dont feel any pressure at all. Definitely recommended! Now i am confident in preparing Japanese food for my family.
Tami and Fumi are the nicest ladies who taught us step by step, and gave my son, Quito, so much opportunity to actually be involved hands on from mixing to slicing to frying and rolling the onigiri with our bare hands. 7 dishes including some nice chat over eating our bentos in two hours was amazing! Quito left soooo happy, so mommy is soooo happy too. 🍙🍤🥩🥗 thank you Tami and Fumi! Definitely a must try activity when in Osaka!
We had to change our plans last minute due to a typhoon arriving to Kansai, so we booked this cooking lesson to have something to do indoors. It was a really nice experience, Miyuki explained us everything in a very easy to understand way and giving us tips and curious data about Japanese cuisine (I thought bonito flakes were onion until she told me they were tuna :O). With this course you get to cook several dishes and different techniques and you are taught how to prepare a bento box having in mind Japanese aesthetics. Kawaii!
Sakura cook is conveniently located in the center of Osaka city, and is the midway point of Umeda (Osaka) ~ Namba Station.
We offer Japanese cooking classes in English, which include giving every foreign traveler a full of Japanese cuisine and history. Since our opening in January 2017, we met many guests from the US, Europe and Asia. The lesson starts wearing all hand-made originally designed Japanese style Kimono-apron and watching multilingual teaching materials on tablets, the instructor will teach you how to cook with step by step instructions. Please enjoy the dishes you have prepared at the end of the class.
