We had a unique , couple cooking class. It was throughly informative with information of all the ingredients and cooking we were about to do. The staff were exceptional, all of them but in particular Alit the head chef of the Alantara was so good and helpful explaining everything as we cooked. The dishes we produced were sensational and you get to experience them all at the end of the class. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to learn the basics of Indonesian cooking and it was great fun. 5 stars no question
Great Morning spent in the kitchen. Made some amazing food and learnt about local spices ! Best lunch of the trip!
The food was delicious and the instructor was really nice. A great father and daughter activity that made our last day in Bali special.
The explanations were clear, the instructions easy to follow, the staff were attentive and the teacher has a fun personality. The food was delicious and we look forward to cooking when we go home. It was one of the best classes we have cooked in. Thank you.
We were picked up at our hotel and were the only 2 people in the class but everything was explained to us in great detail. We were shown how to do something and then we did it. Thoroughly enjoyed the end result. Thankyou for everything.
Our cooking class was so well organised, with beautiful fresh ingredients and our Chef Made was lovely and very knowledgeable. Our Balinese menu produced a fantastic meal which we really enjoyed sitting down and eating at the end. This is a fun class to do in couples or with teenagers, very hands on and really enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Staff fantastic and easy to understand. Food fantastic and the trip to the market a bonus The whole experience was enjoyable and I might even make the dishes at home. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends. Terah mekasi Thank you🩷
We were collected from our villa. The cooking group was very small, instruction was personalised, clear and informative. Instructor was excellent, helpful, excellent knowledge and funny. We met somelovely people from Germany, cooked some fabulour food and have a lovely time sharing our cooking together. A lovely afternoon that was very cheap.
We loved cooking with Lira. Very clean, very professionell, sooo tasty, and nice other ladies in our class
Really good lesson. Chief is very kind and helpful. He explained everything from ingredients to cooking methods. The lesson doesn’t take too long. It is well organized and you can start immediately with preparation and cooking
We had such a fun time cooking authentic Indonesian food! The class was relaxed and fun. The food that we cooked was the tastiest we’d had during our time in Bali! Would highly recommend
It was a fun and informative morning and afternoon. The teachers explained it clearly, step by step. You are really taken into Balinese culture. Everything is super clean and the ingredients are very fresh.
Having never done a cooking class and not knowing what to expect I had a ball. Lira and her crew were lovely and would come back again given the chance
such a well run class , in a very clean cooking environment with very fresh produce, they also accommodate menu change requests if you have a preference to learn something new , which is really nice . many thanks - we will be back again
I went with four kids, ages 13-19. they all loved the class (even though two of them are really picky). The staff was great and very welcoming. We had a request to change the dessert and they accommodated this! They no longer do the marked tour and some of the vegetables were pre cut, but we learned a lot. The class + dining experience lastet for a total of 3 hours. The location was really nice and we felt well taken care of. The driver was on time when picking us up and he spoke better English than most native in Bali.
In Sanur, most cooking classes focus on classic Balinese dishes like nasi campur, satay, gado‑gado, and tempeh‑based recipes. Students also learn how to make fresh coconut milk desserts.
Many classes in Sanur offer vegan, gluten‑free and halal alternatives. The chef will adjust ingredients so you can still enjoy dishes like nasi goreng or lawar without compromising taste.
A standard cooking class in Sanur runs for 3 to 4 hours and usually includes 8–12 participants, giving enough time for hands‑on practice and tasting.
Most instructors in Sanur speak English and often offer basic Indonesian phrases. Even if you only speak English, you’ll be able to follow along and ask questions.
Yes, many cooking schools combine a morning market visit with a street‑food‑style class, letting you pick fresh ingredients and learn how to assemble dishes like bakso or sate lilit.
In Sanur, you should remove your shoes before entering the kitchen, wear a headscarf if you’re a woman, and respect the traditional "salah" prayer moments when the chef greets participants.
During the Bali Arts Festival or Nyepi, classes often showcase seasonal dishes like ayam betutu or “Bali‑style” sweet potatoes, celebrating local traditions.
Solo travelers can join group classes and meet others, couples enjoy a romantic hands‑on session, and families get kid‑friendly recipes and activities, making it inclusive for all.
