Can’t recommend this class enough. Completely exceeded our expectations, Thy was an incredible host and is so knowledgeable. We got to see the local markets and learn about certain fruits and veg, an experience you couldn’t appreciate fully without a guide. We then got to the class were Thy explained how they support the orphanage which was really touching, amazing work they are doing. We had such a fun afternoon and came away with new techniques and appreciation for Khmer cooking. All in all, one of the best days I’ve experienced in Cambodia and would highly recommend you to book! Thank you again Thy and Master Chef
This was amazing where we had a local experience. We went to a unique market and learned about some of the foods that we later cooked with. The class was great and we learned skills that can be used at home. The food was delicious and unique. Lastly the guide spoke excellent English and taught us step by step through the cooking process. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone!
This class was great. We had a tour around the local market first, then off to the family home where we had a tour of the garden. Beautiful vegetables and herbs which you get to harvest some to go into some of your dishes. This class offers options and they were more than happy to accommodate us vegetarians. Not forgetting the food is delicious! Such a lovely family/ hosts
That was a very good start of the day. I like cooking and participate in cooking classes. This one was excellent. Tuk tuk took me from my hotel and with rest of the group we rode to the cooking place where we firstly went to the local market to get some explanation of ingredients that we will be using. Later we collected herbs from their garden and started to cook four meals that we could choose from the list. Everything was very well explained in nice and friendly atmosphere At the end we enjoyed food that we cooked and when was finished tuk tuk took us back to hotels We also get a recipe book in pdf, so now I can cook it again at my home
The class we took was really cool. Our instructor Tea picked us up at our hotel from where we went to a local market. He walked us around and we even got to try crickets. At the cooking class‘ site we started to prepare our 3-course-menu. It was really fun and we enjoyed our time cooking and having it tasted after.
A very pleasurable, informative and delicious experience. The local market tour offers a plethora of vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, etc… Everything you could possibly need for your gourmet creation. The staff are all friendly and extremely helpful. Very laid-back and comfortable environment. A small garden provides the necessary accents to your entrees, likewise the attention to your food prep detail and presentation are equally noteworthy. From my tuk tuk ride to/from the hotel, market tour, cooking lessons and my subsequent wolfing down my creations… a very memorable experience. Wished I could have stayed longer. SIX STARS!
We really can recommend the cooking-class with Ben. He picked us up at our hotel and showed us a beautiful market outside of Siem Reap with an typing out typical cambodian vegetables and fruits. After that we went to the cooking- place and prepared a wounderful 3 course menu together! Furthermore Ben is helping underpriviliged and orphaned children from the neighbourhood around and helps his community with it!
Seeing the market before cooking was a nice touch. The food was good and fun to cook and it was great seeing their house and garden.
Authentic cuisine, only fresh ingredients, no convenience food, over open fire, nice and Good English talking chef
Chris and his wife Lily are the nicest hosts you can imagine. We've enjoyed the cooking class a lot. Even the short trip to the market was nice even though we do not like markets usually. The meals were easy to prepare but still a nice challenge for non-cambodians. And you learn easy recipes to try again at home. The chef was such a fun guy! Had a great time all in all. You even receive a nice certificate for competing the course to frame and hang up in your kitchen at home ;)
It was fascinating going around the locals market. The orphanage where the cooking took place was very peaceful
This was such an unexpectedly great afternoon! If you have some free time in Siem Reap I would 100% recommend doing this class. Our cooking instructor Mr Tea took us around the local market in the country and explained how they utilise some of the commonly used ingredients. He told us a bit more about the recent history of the country and also got a chance to try some insects (grasshoppers, silk worms and beetles) - definitely an experience for adventurous eaters! From there we went to the community centre to prepare our fabulous Khmer dishes. The community centre also houses underprivileged children and assists them with schooling and social support. The whole group participates in making all of the dishes (special thanks to the other instructor Mr Ben!) and everyone shares the end product around a friendly table. We enjoyed some well-deserved beer while waiting for our dishes to cook and finally enjoyed our homemade meals. Portion sizes are generous so come hungry! All in all a wonderful afternoon!
Everything was super good! I went to local village and tried to make a traditional basket. I didn't expect that kind of stuff but I liked it. And the place where I took the cooking class was homey, cozy and lovely. It wasn't touristic place at all like some local's house, that was the best part of it. Absolutely the cooking class was super good. The foods, even better than a restaurant. I really enjoyed it! Highly recommend!!!
Our cooking class had five people and it was a really good experience. Chris shared a lot of knowledge at the markets and the cooking class was fun! I would highly recommend!
Ratanak (Nak) was so full of knowledge and joy teaching our intimate class. After wandering through the market answering our questions, we took a tuk tuk to a breezy rooftop where we began cooking our feast! We made 4 delicious dishes I cannot wait to bring back to Canada with me and cook for my family! This was one of my favourite experiences while in Siem Reap.
This was a wonderful afternoon and a great thing to do during your stay in Siem Reap. We were a small group of 6 and started off with a short time at a local market. Chris filled us in with all sorts of tips and information about buying local produce and then drove us out to his home where we had the class. The chef was cheery and so informative, again sharing lots of tips - including alternative ingredients to find at home - and ideas on local food and how to get the best form the flavours. We prepared a delicious 3 course meal which we then ate in the lovely garden.
Everything was great from the market tour to the meal preping. In a calm atmosphere, you will cook delicious meal with simple steps in no hurry. Chef is good and gives you some advice, talk about Cambodian way to do things. Very good and authentic experience, can not recommend more.
