About

Hands-on cooking classes will be held at our Japanese cuisine restaurant "Tokitarazu" in Hiroo, which is an upscale residential area in Tokyo. You can learn from the basics of cooking to professional Kaiseki cuisine (traditional Japanese cuisine). Also, you will enjoy Sake paired with dishes.

Our instructor, who has mastery of Kaiseki cuisine, will guide you step by step how to make the dishes and decorate the plates.

Specifically you will learn, e.g., how to make Dashi (soup stock), how to make Sumeshi (sushi rice), and how to use cooking utensils and prepare ingredients, so even beginner chefs can have a great time!

In this cooking class, you can enjoy opportunities for:

Learning the authentic and traditional food culture based on Kaiseki cuisine;
Enjoying Sake paired with dishes;
Taking home the recipes for traditional Japanese dishes for each of the four seasons (the recipes will vary from season to season)

(*Please note that you cannot change the date of your experience less than 72 hours before the experience starting time. Please allow us some time to arrange and prepare fresh ingredients for you.)

"Never had such a phantastic cooking class!"

The class was an exciting experience as Yoku explained a lot of background on Japanese culture and table etiquette, of course besides all the insides on the preparation of the dishes we cooked. It was so much fun and so delicious! A big thank you to our host and teacher. 100% recommendation by the both of uns.

Pleasant class in which we learned how to prepare a dashi, a proper Japanese rice, made our own mochi with a strawberry inside, and learned how to properly behave in a Japanese restaurant. The chef was super nice and answered all kinds of questions. Overall, a nice experience and opportunity to meet a local chef in Tokyo.

Great way to learn more about kaiseki cooking and japanese etiquette. The lesson was hands on and you were encouraged to try all the techniques shown. Recipes were easy to follow for beginners. The classes can be tailored for professional chefs. We had 2 kids and there were able to participate in most of the preparation. We prepared the traditional new years dishes and it was a wonderful way to celebrate the new year. Thank you for a most memorable experience. Highly recommended!
