The Japanese capital is a concoction of the modern and the traditional, as towering skyscrapers live among historic temples. With a diverse city comes diverse food, and Tokyo arguably offers the best food that Japan has to offer. With our cooking classes we offer many options for you to explore the variety of Japanese food such as Bento box making, sushi making, and ramen making. We offer you to explore the manifold of Japanese food as classes are taught by locals with recipes that have been passed down generations. In some of our cooking classes we even offer visits to a local market to collect your ingredients to cook with.

"Fantastic Vegan Food"
I took the cooking class with Kaori. She picked me up at the station and first we went to the local supermarket where she showed me the products we would be using and also told me, with what I could substitute it, if I can‘t get it in Germany. Next we went to her house and we cooked a vegan Ramen and Vegan Gyoza. I learned so much that I can also use for other vegan dishes that I cook. It tasted absolutely delicious and we also had some great conversations when we had the great food that we cooked together. Thank you again, Kaori, for the great time and the things I learned. Hope to take another class with you some other time.

Yumi is a fun-loving and passionate teacher who has selflessly shared so much with me on cooking Japanese cuisine beside Matcha Delight. She didn’t mind at all even when we had exceeded the time duration of the class. She is flexible and teach me using the kind of tools I have at home so that I can replicate it more easily when I go home. Would love to come back again for her other courses!

"The class was wonderful!"
We were welcomed into Nahoko’s fun and quirky kitchen for a lovely evening of learning about Ramen and gyoza. The finished product was delicious and the experience was a delight from beginning to end. Making and tasting fresh noodles was on our bucket list for our trip to Japan and Nahoko came through. My husband, who cooks professionally learned many new tricks. We even got to taste her homemade Miso and learn about the process of creating it from scratch. Highly recommend!

"We strongly recommend to try this vegan class!"
We had a great time during the first day of the year and really enjoyed the experience, we’ve learned new techniques, experienced with new cooking tools and got to know new Japanese flavors.
The vegan menu was really interesting (even for the non-vegan among us) and above all of that the Chef was very pleasant, shared his receipts with us and hosted us just perfect! Thank you

"Perfect Japanese Cooking Experience!"
We could not recommend this cooking class with Sato enough! I booked this with my wife and we had an amazing time that we will never forget! Sato was there at the meeting point early for us with umbrellas incase we did not have our own, so thoughtful! After a short walk to his lovely apartment, he then invited us into his home, where he made us green tea from his beautiful new teapot and opened up to us and told us his story. We started to prepare the food and cook, he was a brilliant teacher with lots of helpful tips for everything. My wife has a gluten intolerance and Sato was very vigilant in ensuring his meals did not include any gluten. The food was a beautiful authentic Japanese experience using seasonal ingredients....... And also super tasty! We sat down and ate all of the food together and had more interesting conversations.
We then went for the tour afterwards (which we would highly recommend doing), visiting hidden gems throughout Shinjuku and Nakano guided by the wonderful Sato, before departing ways 😥 We will definitely be booking a class when we are next back in Tokyo to catch up and try the different seasonal foods!

I am a Ramen lover, this class took me deeper into the Ramen world by making it by yourself. Teacher speaks English, the place is cozy for 2~3 people, and last but not least, the Ramen made by ourselves tastes amazing! Recommend for anyone who'd like to know more about the making process of Ramen.

I really enjoyed this class. Our host was super friendly and easy to get along with. We had a great conversation and the dishes we made were delicious. This tour was awesome! Yoshi was a warm and welcoming guide and made sure to make everyone feel comfortable. We were able to eat in a cozy and private room, which was a cool experience. Yoshi’s food recommendations were perfect and we enjoyed a variety of amazing food. We were also able to visit a great standing bar, as well as other bars, and even got to go through the red light district. Yoshi was very knowledgeable about the area, told great stories, had great recommendations, and took very good care of all of us on the tour. I would definitely do this tour again and would recommend it to anyone! You really haven’t visited Japan without a night in Shinjuku’s back alleys, but it can be a little intimidating without the right guide. Yoshi’s knowledge and friendly personality made it the complete experience. Thanks, Yoshi!

"Fantastic Sushi Class"
Really enjoyed my experience at Emi's kitchen. The class covered three types of sushi, miso soup and Japanese omelette.
Emi speaks excellent English and her instructions were easy to follow. I managed to turn out a plate of professional looking sushi, despite it being my first attempt at making it.
The class takes place in Emi's apartment, which is a short walk from the station. Emi kindly met me at the station to show me the way.
The area is in the suburbs of Tokyo, but very easy to reach by train.
Thoroughly recommend this experienceto anyone interested in learning to make sushi.

"Tasty food, well-done class"
The class was well organized and the food was tasty -- I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It's a nice way to do more as a tourist than just watch and admire. After returning home, I cooked the recipes from the class. Two observations: first, I was able to cook the recipes at home from what I learned in class, and everything turned out well; second....it took several hours and every dish in my kitchen was dirty by the end. It made me appreciate the organization of the instructors even more.

It was a very fun educational class, with a great and dedicated teacher.
The location was very nice and authentic, we learned about how to make the sushi and the technics, but also about the history behind. After class we got to eat what we made, and learned about the Japanese way of starting a meal “Itadakimasu”.
It was a really nice day, in a very nice environment, where you felt very much welcome.
I give Chagohan Tokyo my best recommendation.

"Absolutely brilliant. ..."
If you're after an experience in Tokyo without crowds and you love food then this is for you. Kurina is living the life most of us would like to. She provides a unique opportunity to see how the locals live in a more rural part of Japan yet accessable from Tokyo. Kurina is knowledgeable in her field and shares more than just how to cook tofu. Best of all you get to eat and talk with kurina and share stories. Thank you kurina!!☺

"A delightful experience!"
We loved our cooking experience with Emi. She guided us through the preparation and making of sushi, miso soup and Japanese omelette whilst engaging in interesting conversation about all things English, and answering our questions on Japanese lifestyle and culture. Even my husband, who avoids the kitchen like the plague discovered a talent for de-pooing prawns and slicing omelette!
Emi was fun and hospitable, welcoming us into her home and furnishing us with a memorable evening.

"The class was great!"
We met with Amanda who was very nice and welcoming and made us feel like home in each restaurant we went to. The food was amazing and it was an awsome way to explore japanesse food better. The only problem I has was to find the location. Google maps showed a totally different direction every time and thats the app i use as a tourist so...
Over all, it was a great morning :)

"Very personal and simple to follow with a good explanation on traditions"
We found Emi to be very proficient in her home-run cooking class. My wife found the traditions and history to be of great value. We appreciated begging part of a home-style event and found the courses easy to remember and to prepare for ourselves when we get home.

"It was more of a tour than a class which is what we were after. Very informative."
Thought it was very informed and great tips on Japanese culture around the fish markets with other information thrown in. Our guide seemed to have a good relationship with market stall holders which made them very helpful and accomodating. Loved the tour of the Tokyo fish markets.

"Learn to cook ramen and gyoza like a boss!"
No overseas holiday is complete without trying your hand at learning how to cook some of the local cuisine. This class teaches you how to make the three parts of the ramen broth, and then how to combine them into a delicious ramen. You also learn and make your own gyoza, from the filling to making and folding the dumplings, and finally how to cook and fry them perfectly. Highly recommended.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our class with Chagohan. Due to changes in our itinerary in Tokyo we had to change the time of our class several times, but they were very helpful and happy to accommodate our need. We were the only people in our class so we got to have a private session (luck!). The tutors were very friendly and explained the cooking steps very well. We enjoyed the tempura with miso soup at the end of our class and they were delicious! Would definitely come back and try out other classes with them!
