What to Expect

In this cooking class, we will make takoyaki, a beloved Japanese street food.

Nagoya is renowned for its fermented foods and rich culinary traditions. Over time, many delicious dishes and a unique local culture have taken root here.

The city also has deep historical roots—it was home to many famous warriors during the Warring States period and is known for landmarks like Nagoya Castle. This rich history has influenced Nagoya’s distinctive food culture, often referred to as “Nagoya-meshi” (Nagoya cuisine), which continues to attract both Japanese and international visitors.

• Takoyaki

Takoyaki is a classic Japanese street food popular with adults and children alike.

It is Japan's soul food, known as yatai-meshi (street food), and can be easily found at street stalls.
Most Japanese households have a special pan for making takoyaki, and there is a culture of making takoyaki at home, so much so that it is called a takoyaki party.

In this takoyaki lesson, you will learn how to make the batter, add simple ingredients such as octopus and green onions, and flip it into a round shape using a special frying pan.

In this fun hands-on cooking experience, you will learn how to mix the batter, add flavorful ingredients such as octopus and scallions, and master the unique flipping method that creates the round shape of the takoyaki.

Once the takoyaki is complete, it is time to taste the takoyaki.
The finished takoyaki is hot, crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside.

You can add mayonnaise, sauce, dried bonito flakes, and other toppings of your choice.

Whether you are a foodie or just interested in Japanese culture, this activity is a great way to experience a local tradition and have an unforgettable time!
