We took a five dishes cooking class. First we went to see local market and meet some local residents playing MH Jong in the courtyards. After that we walked to cooking school, had some tea and then we prepared 5 dishes. The kitchen was extremely clean, the chef and the guide were very knowledgable, kind and answered all our questions. After cooking we enjoyed prepared dishes together. Great experience, highly recomended!
This was our second class with Lance. We have no regrets about repeating the experience. He's always so pleasant and friendly. The noodle dish we made was delicious.
We had a wonderful morning with Lance. He was very friendly, welcoming, and a great teacher. We visited a local market and then made Baozi, which were delicious. We'd love to do it again.
It was a truly unique experience learning home cooked recipes. Karen was very kind and helpful and even provided us with things to do for the rest of our time in Chengdu. Would highly recommend this to anyone!
It was a lot of fun and I had some good conversation, she speaks english well! The dishes are both very tasty and the recipes sinple to follow (already waiting for the chance to make it again)
Jerry was wonderful. Not only he taught me how to make baos, but he gave me a lot of insights and suggestions about what to see and do, and we shared a wonderful meal together. Also, the market part was amazing. Thank you!
We had a really nice experience ! The cook speaks very well english and cooking together gave us the opportunity to have interesting conversations across many topics
The visit of the local market, close to the cooking school, was a good introduction before the practice. We prepared 5 dishes for a complete meal. I would definitely reproduce some at home. I highly recommend.
We loved everything from the visit to the local market and the cooking class. Jerry was very welcoming and explained everything from ingredients to lifestyle of Chengdu people. The visit to the local market was the highlight of my trip in Chengdu. One super friendly aunt was there to help us during the cooking class. We probably made the best mapo tofu we ever cooked. We also learnt how to make twice-cooked pork which was a mind-blowing discovery. Thank you again !!!
We had an incredible time at the Chilly Cool Workshop cooking class in Chengdu. Jerry, our guide, was fantastic- he took us on an engaging tour of the local market, offering us a fascinating glimpse into the rich food culture of Chengdu. Jerry was extremely kind, patient, and spoke excellent English, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The cooking class itself was amazing. We learned to prepare authentic dishes with fresh ingredients, and the hands-on experience was both fun and educational. The food we cooked was delicious, and the entire experience was one we’ll cherish. We highly recommend the Chilly Cool Workshop to anyone looking to immerse themselves in Chengdu’s culinary scene. Thank you, Jerry, and the entire team for such a memorable day!
The spice market and trying different things here was great, among which the making of dumplings and tasting local strong spirits. Our guide Lance was fluent in English and very helpful, both in translating and taking pictures. Due to his familiarity with the city, it provides a good insight into the local life and helped us experience the culture better. We definitely recommend this class if you are interested in trying and making local food!
Jerry, out guide, is very fun and knowledgeable person. In our group there are four of us altogether. Jerry brought us to the market, introduced us delicacies of Chengdu, the fresh ingredients (poultry & vegetables etc) that we can find there. And then we walked to the Chili Cook Kitchen which is nearby. Class was led by Chef Li, she guided us in preparing the fresh ingredients for the 5 Sichuan dishes that we cook that day. If definitely will book another session next time I'm back to Chengdu (to cook different Sichuan dishes), and for other countries - I will check out Cookly website for the cooking class offerings! Proud and Happy Student!
Super experience, first we made and probably not last. The team is really nice, food is great and really recommend it.
Lance was absolutely gorgeous! He guided us around the market, answered all our questions and was happy to find new friends. After mastering our own little challenges on the market, we went to the kitchen including a nice room for dining and prepared our meal with a pretty friendly cook! We were a group of six and we even prepared vegetarian dished for two of us :-) All in all, it was an awesome experience - we can absolutely recommend it! Thanks a lot! Patricia
This is one of the best cooking classes we’ve taken. Lisa was so friendly and so nice. She even helped us by calling the hotel at our next destination to confirm arrangements. Her English was excellent, instructions were very clear and she was so patient with us. She even altered the standard menu, because my daughter wanted to learn something off one of the other menus. The class was held in her home, which made the experience all that more special. The food was delicious, so come hungry. If you are coming to Chengdu, this is the cooking class to take.
