A true Mayan culinary experience. Learn how to make the real Guatemalan tortillas with 2 Mayan emblematic sauces by toasting, grilling and grinding native ingredients with Guatemalan utensils such as: comales, asadores and our famous Mayan grinding stone. Includes a Mayan beverage.

Programma
- 10:00 am: Meet at El Tanque de la Unión by tuk-tuk.
- 10:15 am: We arrived at the home of our hosts, Maria and Doña Guadalupe. They told us about the history of corn and its importance in Guatemala.
- 10:30 am: Preparing tortillas on a traditional comal
- 11:00 am: Preparation of chilmol on a grinding stone
- 11:20 am: Preparing guacamole with Maria's family recipe
- 11:30 am: Time to enjoy what we have prepared.
- 12:00 pm: Back in tuk-tuk at El Tanque de la Unión

Beautiful experience in Antigua.
It was a wonderful experience learning Mayan cuisine, and it was delicious. Our cooking teachers were locals Rebecca and Betsy, who expertly guided us through a wonderful local dish, which we helped prepare.

Worth every penny
This is the exact experience you're looking for if you want to eat, learn, and be immersed in a culture. Rebeca is an incredible human—full of a wealth of knowledge and so happy to share her love of food and the history of Guatemala. Even better, she's supporting so many amazing local vendors with her work who are thrilled when she arrived because she's connected with them in such a respectful and thoughtful way. The tortilla-making workshop and lunch with the sweetest family is something that will forever be etched in my mind as one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Despite being alone and speaking very little Spanish, I felt so incredibly welcomed in their home. I've taken many food tours in many countries, and this one tops them all. It was SO good that I decided to join Rebeca for the evening tour she offers, and it was just as incredible. Don't waste your time looking anywhere else. You won't find a better experience than this.

Fun and delicious
We had a great time on this tour! The market was fun and the food delicious. Our guide, Xoshil, was wonderful. Making tortillas at the end was also a lot of fun. I definitely recommend this tour if you're in Antigua.
