Saigon Cooking Class

Our chef made me feeling super welcomed and told us about the culture behind Vietnamese cooking. We made summer rolls, banh mi, chicken clay pot and banana tapiocas pudding. We had our own work station and ingredients and it was fully hands on. Thank you for a fabulous afternoon. Highly recommend. Very worthwhile.

Great trip around the market and all my questions answered. Then a chance to cook and eat three delicious dishes - real hands on cooking, full sized portions! Don't eat before you go - although I did take some of mine home with me to eat later! Great instruction, brilliant set up - loved it.

We had the cooking class in a small group of 9 people, which was really nice. There was a lot of attention for all of us, and the English was perfect! In addition, we enjoyed three dishes that we are already excited about cooking them at home. Thank you for the great experience!

The market tour with the guide/chef was very interesting. Then the cooking class is very well-organized and it was a pleasure to follow it. All the staff of the cooking studio are lovely 👌🏼

We have had an amazing cooking class where we learned so much about how to recreate the great Vietnamese dishes at home. They made all dishes in a fully vegetarian version (even vegan fish sauce) which we really appreciated. The food was super flavourful yet still quite easy to make. Everything was well-prepared and it was very easy to follow the instructions. Even all my questions I had beyond the recipes were answered perfectly. An absolute blast to finish off our amazing Vietnam adventure, I highly recommend!

Loved the tour of the markets and learnt a lot about the herbs and fruits of Vietnam. The food we cooked tasted amazing.

The cooking class was really well organized with 3 dishes to cook and an amazing chef to share the cooking tips. A highly recommended activity for immersion into Vietnamese cuisine! So much worth it!

The market tour was very informative. The instructor gave us great information about the various meats and vegetables to be used in the class. The class was a small group. We received instruction about the kitchen tools, ingredients, and the process, then we made the dish ourselves. Each student had his/her own prep station and wok. Instructor was very knowledgable and helpful. I highly recommend the class.

I love the classes and if you’re keen, you can take different classes per day like I did because they teach different dishes each day. The instructions are clear and the place feels homey. I’m really glad I took the classes.

We had a tour of the local marker to learn about the ingredients we were going to use. The chef was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and it completely added to the experience. The food we learnt to make was simple and delicious

The instructor was great at explaining each dish and taking us through it. The food was fresh and tasted amazing and we also walked out with a leaflet that had all the recipes on so it will be easy to replicate on own. Highly recommend this class !

Wing was a very nice and gentle chef, who teached us in a perfect way some very delicious vietnamese meals. We had a great time and a belly like a happy Buddha. We will definitely re-cook it at home!

We loved doing the food market tour first too. Our tutor was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience very interesting and enjoyable.

Absolutely loved the class. The market was very informative and a nice introduction to the day (although very hot and smelly - I would advise to take a hand fan and some water) then we really appreciated an air conditioned taxi followed by a very relaxing entrance into the cool cookery room with a nice seat and cold drink. And finally, the main part of the day was great too!! Our head chef was WONDERFUL! Really patient and helpful and all of the food we made was delicious! 100% recommend :-)

The class was very nice as was the market tour. Learned new ways of cooking certain foods and some basics (how to devein shrimp - yum!). Make sure to check the daily cooking class menu that’s listed online as some people were disappointed to not be cooking certain foods (it changes daily). The class size hovers around 10-12 people which for me is a bit large and doesn’t provide as intimate of a setting as some classes that I’ve done in other countries. The instructors/chefs spoke pretty good English so they were easy to understand and very helpful.

Chef Ly was amazing! The market tour was very informative and the class was so fun. We were given unlimited ice tea, the food was so delicious, and Ly was very helpful. I highly recommend this class!

Amazing class and awesome people. My cousin invited me to take part in this class and i am glad that i did. I was able to experience Vietnamese cooking while embodying Vietnamese culture with me. I was able to learn their unique technique and we were given the privilege to use Vietnamese kitchenware. They were all accommodating and friendly. We also had a market tour and they took time explaining each ingredients that we used. The whole concept was traditional and we learned a lot about Vietnam culture.

Great moment shared with nice people, it was really nice to cook and enjoy the food as if we were at the restaurant.

Wan our chef was amazing. She was fun and very helpful. We made 3 fantastic Vietnamese dishes which we devoured. She then treated us to a special dessert which was heavenly. Armed with our practical experience and full recipe cards, we’re definitely going to try to replicate our successes.

The chef is a nice and passionate person, we enjoyed a lot during this course, she is talkative no matter what questions we ask, it's an experience you won't want to miss in Ho Chi Minh city.

The class was wonderful! Chef Oanh first took us on a tour through the market and pointed out many of the different foods that are commonly used in Vietnam, including herbs and vegetables that I was unfamiliar with. Then we went to the cooking studio where she led us through several different dishes. Each course was delicious! Chef Oanh again was very helpful throughout the cooking, and we had a lot of fun. At the end of the course we were given the recipes to take home and try to make again. I highly recommend this class!

Nice setup And good explanation About the food

We loved the experience provided by the Saigon Cooking class and Local Market Tour! Both chefs were very good, easy going, positive, knew a lot, and we could talk about any topics easily with them. The cooking experience was great, it was easy to follow, challenging enough and a lot of fun. We also had a great pleasure to meet new people and it definitely added to the atmosphere. Overall, I would recommend this cooking and your class, you will be happy you did it afterwards! And special thanks to chefs! ☺️

Second time I visited Saigon cooking class! Very well organised morning, small group, very clean, run by very friendly chef Ly ( great sense of humour). Great dishes, hands on cooking, suitable for all levels as other staff surpervise discretely & Would help if necessary! The challenge now is to find all ingredients back home!

This was a magic way to spend a Sunday morning in Daigon and learn about Vietnamese cooking and preparation. Firstly we met at the early morning market and sourced the ingredients plus a little condiment shopping for ourselves. The course was well prepared and very enjoyable. No stress at all and we all prepared our meals then had the pleasure of enjoying them together. Chef Alyssa was a very good patient teacher as well as all her helpers.

All the stuff are very friendly. During the market exploring we can learn a lot about south Vietnam cooking habbit and vegetables. The cooking lesson is also good with a good chef and good kitchen!

It was my first time to join a cooking class and I did not know what to expect. We had 2 challenges for Chef Ly and her team since 1) my friend is strictly vegan, 2) we would be arriving late for class by about 1.5? hrs coming from Cambodia (heard that right) Ms Tham and I exchanged several emails to set expectations on both sides. When we arrived, the rest of the class was enjoying their 2nd prepped meal, while ours was already done for us. We followed through by joining the second and third part of the class, including a catch-up dish which we'd missed. I'd say the team had excellent planning and time management to accommodate all our requests with minimum disruption to the class overall. Luckily, since we stayed back, we enjoyed a quick chat with Chef Ly on the ingredients mostly used as vegan cooking alternatives which proved very useful for my friend. Fast-paced but enjoyable, and warm and accommodating staff makes this class commendable. Plus points is its quaint, historical location, as the restaurant (Hoa Tuc) was formerly the Opium Refinery Building. Would go back with my sister in law and raving about it back home!

We took the Saturday class and it was really a fulfilling experience especially for us set of friends because we don't usually cook in our home country. This cooking class enabled us to connect more with the culture of Vietnam because all the food and ingredients used were what was generally used by locals in their everyday cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of cooking your own food and getting to taste them right after preparing them! The chef and the rest of the staff during our class were accommodating and helpful. Highly recommended activity when you're in Vietnam!

This is a very good experience in HCMC, from the market tour in Ben Thanh Market to the cooking class in the classroom, I felt the passion from the chef who wish us to know the Vietnam Cuisine deeply rather than just cooking. The explanation and demonstration is very detail, very happy and enjoy to cook Vietnam Cuisine by myself. I think I can do it the same as the class did when I go back to my hometown.

This is my first time to join cooking class. I don't cook in home, and have no experience about cooking, but I enjoyed this class well. The room atmosphere is like high grade restaurant. The lecturer is too cute and smart girl. I had lunch before going the class, so I could not eat the food that I cooked. I recommend not to take lunch before going the class to enjoy your food.

My course was more than expected. Everything was well organized and professional. My chef was extremely professional with great qualities to transmit her knowledge. There was a little “plus” in everything.

I have taken a lot of cooking classes at home and around the world. This class ranks in the top 5 for a 1/2 day course. The chef was a good communicator and gave us many tips from her experience. I also took the market tour and it was a good start to Vietnamese cooking. I’d recommend this class if you are visiting HCMC.

We were four of us doing this cooking class and we loved it! The Chef was great, very clear, very nice, friendly and funny. The place is beautiful, located in an old opium factory and the group wasn't too big (maximum of 12 people). We had such a great time and it was delicious !

The classes are always good, however, the only time I can ever take the class when traveling for work in VN is on a Sunday. The problem with this is that it is always the same class and menu. It would be great to learn other receipts, but you are structured for the same thing everyday through out the week. However, the classes are always fun and informative, and I would recommend them to anyone...

My wife and I were in Ho Chi Minh for only two days and wanted to experience local food and the local market first hand. We chose to meet the chef at the market before the class and she was very helpful in explaining how the market worked and how locals would use the market. Coming was made easier for those less experienced, and everything has a vegetarian and vegan option. Really appreciated all the insight and fun we had learning about the food. She also gives you a recipe book with the things you made to take home so you can make it again.

Booked for a group of four and we all loved it, the Market tour was informative and the cooking class was fun, interactive and ran at a good pace. All the guides and staff speak good English and are super friendly. Would highly recommend to all.

On our last day in overwhelming Ho Chi Minh City we visited the Saigon Cooking Class. First we strolled with our Flower, so the name of our guide, on the market. She was explaining us the different vegetables, herbs, fishes - later we cooked together a three course menue - i really recommend everybody to take part at this really fun and interesting expericence.

I booked a Friday morning cooking class with a market tour. The tour highlights some unique ingredients in Vietnam, though not too different from those in China, where I come from. The cooking class was held at a very nice restaurant / historic building with every ingredient and tool well prepared, so I have no worries to cook vegetarian food with others together. Chef Oanh and her colleagues are all nice and helpful! A very memorable experience. Definitely recommended. And it's cheaper to book here than from the cooking centre!

We really enjoyed our shopping/ cooking experience. Our chef was delightful and very friendly. We were very impressed by her patience and skill and the fact that everything was so well prepared. With her careful guidance we both produced extremely edible 3 course lunches!! A very memorable experience which we will certainly recommend to our friends. Thanks.
