Discover the secrets to authentic and delicious Balinese cuisine with a cooking class at the Alantara resort. This is a fun opportunity to go behind-the-scenes in a Balinese kitchen and see what makes Bali's food culture unique.

Our professional chef will happy to share his recipes and traditional cooking techniques with you.

Our cooking class has a special focus on using fresh produce grown on the island, as well as locally-sourced seafood out of respect for Sanur’s coastal location.

Please select from menu 1, 2 or 3 and kindly indicate in the booking comments.

MENU 1 - Balinese

Starter:

Lawar Gedang - Grated young papaya, Long bean, Mixed with sambal embe, Yellow paste, Grated coconut

Soup:

Ares Be Siap - Slice of banana stick mixed with Balines spices, chicken broth reduce on 30 minutes

Main Course:

Chicken Betutu - Famous traditional braised chicken with balinese traditional

Dessert

Pisang Goreng – Deep-fried banana with palm sugar

MENU 2 - Healthy

Starter:

Heart Salad - Mixed green salad. Jicama, beetroot. carrot, grilled tofu, spice cashew, strawberry, served with passion fruit dressing

Soup:

Golden Jamu - Pumpkin soup with red ginger and turmeric, topping with coconut milk

Main Course:

Chicken Paleo Booster: Grilled chicken with herb lemon sauce and pumpkin puree
Antioxidant Fried Rice: Sauted cauliflower couscous with carrot, leek, tempe, green bean, onion, tempe, herbs

Dessert:

Mango Lisa: Cashew crush with mango cacaco cake, and date jam

MENU 3 - Nusantara

Starter

Urab Vegetables: Steamed local vegetables mixed with sambal embe, grated coconut, and peanuts

Main Course

Nasi Goreng: Wok-fried rice with chicken, served with fried egg, sambal, and acar
Rendang Ayam: Stewed chicken in Indonesian rendang spices, coconut milk, and brown sugar

Dessert

Pisang Goreng: Deep-fried banana with palm sugar

Awesome experience

Got picked up to be taken to our cooking course, was a private session. On arrival received some drinks. Chef and assistant were great guys, and we had fun. Making some amazing dishes (menu 3) I probably, would not have tried before and are now looking forward to trying at home, they were delicious. The 2 hours goes quickly.... Yes we have the recipes...The whole resort team were very friendly. Would recommend as you learn so much..and have fun.

Magnificent cooking class

We had a unique , couple cooking class. It was throughly informative with information of all the ingredients and cooking we were about to do. The staff were exceptional, all of them but in particular Alit the head chef of the Alantara was so good and helpful explaining everything as we cooked. The dishes we produced were sensational and you get to experience them all at the end of the class. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to learn the basics of Indonesian cooking and it was great fun. 5 stars no question

Great experience and so much fun!!

Our cooking class was so well organised, with beautiful fresh ingredients and our Chef Made was lovely and very knowledgeable. Our Balinese menu produced a fantastic meal which we really enjoyed sitting down and eating at the end. This is a fun class to do in couples or with teenagers, very hands on and really enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Perfect and well organized

Really good lesson. Chief is very kind and helpful. He explained everything from ingredients to cooking methods. The lesson doesn’t take too long. It is well organized and you can start immediately with preparation and cooking

Great experience

I went with four kids, ages 13-19. they all loved the class (even though two of them are really picky). The staff was great and very welcoming. We had a request to change the dessert and they accommodated this! They no longer do the marked tour and some of the vegetables were pre cut, but we learned a lot. The class + dining experience lastet for a total of 3 hours. The location was really nice and we felt well taken care of. The driver was on time when picking us up and he spoke better English than most native in Bali.
