Bangkok cuisine of the Bangkok metropolitan area, with Teochew and Portuguese influences.
Central Thai cuisine of the flat and wet central rice-growing plains, site of the former Thai kingdoms of Sukhothai and Ayutthaya, and the Dvaravati culture of the Mon people from before the arrival of Siamese in the area.
Isan or northeastern Thai cuisine of the more arid Khorat Plateau, similar in culture to Laos and also influenced by Khmer cuisine.
Northern Thai cuisine of the cooler valleys and forested mountains of the Thai highlands, once ruled by the former Lanna Kingdom and home of Lannaese, the majority of northern Thailand.
Southern Thai cuisine of the Kra Isthmus which is bordered on two sides by tropical seas, with its many islands and including the ethnic Malay, former Sultanate of Pattani in the deep south. Some food base on Hainanese and Cantonese influence.

My name is Suthida Phakdithai, nick name “Aey”. I graduated in Home Economics. I have always loved my mother's specialty. She is a chef for 45 years. The family business is selling foods and dessert. I own a restaurant and I have been working abroad for 2 years as a cook and manager of Thai restaurants in Brazil. I like to eat many different kinds of foods and think how is it made, why is there such a taste etc. It has become my motivation to cook plus the experience comes from my mother and family. I have been teaching for many years. I want to share the experience to other people that will be passed on from generation to generation. That makes me proud of the root in Thai cuisine and my students will get the best information on my class. First priority: My students will have a good quality to learn real Thai cuisine and enjoy to cook as you are in your house. Slogan: Quality is not focused on quantity.

Afternoon Session

1:30 pm: Pickup at meeting point at exit 3, Huai Khwang MRT Station.
2:00 pm: Learn about rice types and how to cook rice and glutinous rice. How to make coconut milk.
3:00 pm: Start cooking and eat until all 4 menus.
5:30 pm: End of the class.

An Authentic Taste of Thailand

This cooking class was one of the highlights of my trip. The food we prepared was absolutely delicious, but what made the experience truly special was the education that came along with it. I learned so much about Thai ingredients, cooking techniques, and the cultural significance behind the dishes we made. Aey was a gracious and welcoming host who opened her home to us and provided an authentic Thai cooking experience. Learning to cook in her home rather than a commercial setting made the class feel personal and genuine. She was also incredibly patient and accommodating, especially with the two young boys who were participating. Aey made sure everyone felt included and adjusted the experience to accommodate our different tastes and preferences. Her warmth, knowledge, and attention to detail created a fun and comfortable environment for everyone. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in authentic Thai cuisine. You’ll leave not only with delicious food, but also with a deeper appreciation and understanding of Thai cooking and culture.

So interesting and engaging

Ai picked us up and took us around the market. She bought us a Thai tea to try and kept us hydrated. Then she welcomed us into her home where she explained all of the ingredients and helped us cook delicious and authentic Thai food. She was so sweet with our kids and kept them engaged. Her daughter helped a lot with cleaning up and supporting her mum. It was such a lovely and genuine family experience- thank you for welcoming us into your home!

Perfect for families!

The class with Aey was great for the four of us (family with two 12-year-olds) What we really liked about it was the setting in a home rather than a formal cooking school. The kids enjoyed squeezing out the coconut milk, preparing prawns, and stir frying the ingredients in the woks. Final dishes were delicious. Too much food! There were four courses over the span of 5 hours (including a visit to the market to buy food). If you're looking for a smaller group setting in a more relaxed environment, this is a great class. Aey was wonderful and took a lot of care in helping us all prepare the dishes and explain the core aspects of homestyle Thai cooking.

The best cooking experience I have ever had in a cooking class.

Aye was simply wonderful. She puts her whole heart into it and is also an incredibly funny and easygoing woman. She taught me the basics of Thai cooking and how to prepare the most delicious dishes—the kind you’d normally only find in the best local restaurants. She even introduced me to fruits and vegetables I had never seen before, buying them just so I could try them. Having the class in her home created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you don’t feel like opening your own restaurant afterward but still want to experience Thailand in the most authentic way, you absolutely have to go to her!
