With a maximum of just six participants, each class is intimate, interactive, and designed for authentic hands-on learning.
Alex, the host — warm, friendly, and passionate about sharing — teaches in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, and even a bit of Japanese, making the class welcoming to guests from around the world. You’ll prepare every dish from scratch and gain practical skills you can bring home with you. Join us for a memorable culinary journey that blends learning, culture, and the warm hospitality of Taipei.
Each class requires a minimum of 2 participants. If we don’t reach the minimum, don’t worry, we’ll contact you in advance and offer a reschedule or a full refund at your convenience.
Come along with your kids (under 12 years old), it'll be free of charge if they don't cook. And they can share your food. If your kids enjoy cooking, please reserve seats for them. To ensure a safe and focused learning environment for all participants, only registered guests are permitted to join the cooking session. We kindly request that children without a booking do not participate in or assist with the cooking process. However, they are more than welcome to relax in our dedicated resting area, provided the class remains undisturbed. We appreciate your understanding in helping us maintain an intimate experience for everyone.
Dish one: Stir-Fried Rice
If you want to talk about the magic of Taiwanese food, you’ve got to talk about fried rice. It’s the ultimate kitchen transformation—turning humble, everyday steamed rice into a crowd-pleasing masterpiece with just a few clever tricks. In Taiwan, fried rice is our go-to comfort food, any time of the day.
In this fun, hands-on class, we’re starting from the basics: choosing the best ingredients and mastering those essential knife skills. You’ll learn the "secret prep" to keep your rice from getting mushy, and the art of controlling the heat to get that irresistible smoky aroma (we call it Wok Hei!). By the end of the session, you’ll have the skills to whip up a legendary plate of fried rice in your own kitchen.
Dish Two: Stir-fry Traditions Passed Down from Grandma
In this cooking class, you will also master a signature stir-fry dish selected from my grandmother’s cherished recipes. While the ingredients vary with the seasons, one thing remains constant: you will experience a taste that is both authentic and full of surprises.
