Why International Guests Choose This Workshop
Perfect for Your Japan Trip
This sushi making workshop is ideal for:
Whether it’s your first visit to Japan or a return trip, this workshop offers a meaningful and unforgettable cultural experience. This is a valuable opportunity to experience sushi not just as food, but as a cultural tradition.
The most important element of delicious sushi is sushi rice (shari).
In this workshop, you will learn how to prepare sushi rice from scratch using a traditional wooden sushi tub. The chef will carefully explain professional techniques such as seasoning, mixing, and cooling the rice—skills you can easily recreate at home.
Next, you will make 8 pieces of nigiri sushi.
The toppings vary depending on the season, allowing you to enjoy fresh, seasonal fish just like at an authentic sushi counter in Japan. You will practice the delicate balance between rice and topping, learning techniques that look simple but require refined skill.
You will also try making gunkanmaki, a visually appealing style of sushi where ingredients are placed on top of rice wrapped in seaweed. This dish teaches not only flavor balance but also the beauty of sushi presentation.
Using a bamboo rolling mat, you will make hosomaki (thin sushi rolls). You’ll learn essential rolling techniques, ingredient placement, and how to achieve a clean, professional finish.
Enjoy a bowl of traditional miso soup prepared by the chef to accompany your sushi. Warm and comforting, it pairs perfectly with the sushi you’ve created.
After the workshop, enjoy a visit to a local Japanese supermarket. Discover unique Japanese ingredients and seasonings while learning about everyday Japanese food culture. It’s also a great opportunity to find souvenirs and food items to take home.
