What an amazing experience!

What an unforgettable experience! We celebrated my mom’s 70th birthday with Francesca at her beautiful home just outside Palermo, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily. Francesca welcomed us like family and shared wonderful stories about her life, her family traditions, and the history behind the dishes we prepared together. The experience felt authentic, personal, and filled with warmth from start to finish. We learned how to make three incredible pastas from scratch, each with its own unique flavors and techniques. Francesca was patient, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel involved, whether they were experienced cooks or complete beginners. Sitting down afterward to enjoy the meal we created together was truly special. If you’re looking for more than just a cooking class, this is it. It’s an opportunity to connect with Sicilian culture, hear meaningful family stories, and create lasting memories around a table filled with amazing food. Celebrating my mom’s milestone birthday here made the day even more meaningful. We left with full hearts, full stomachs, and memories our family will cherish forever. Highly recommend!

In Bagheria, cooking classes usually focus on classic Sicilian staples like Caponata, Pasta alla Norma, Arancini, Sfincione, and the sweet treat Cannoli. Many chefs also show how to make fresh olive oil-based sauces and incorporate local citrus.

Yes, many schools in Bagheria offer vegan and gluten‑free options. They replace egg or dairy with plant‑based substitutes and use locally grown almond flour or chickpea flour for gluten‑free breads. The chefs also tailor the recipes to your dietary preferences and give you a shopping list for the ingredients.

A street‑food workshop is a popular option. You’ll learn how to craft arancini, panelle, and sfincione on a portable grill, using fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and a splash of local white wine. The class will also cover the art of packing street‑food in a small tin for on‑the‑go eating.

Typical sessions last 2–3 hours, including prep and tasting. Groups usually have 6–8 people, but some studios keep it to 4 for a more intimate feel. Classes are offered in Italian, English, Spanish, and sometimes French, so you’ll never feel lost.

In Bagheria, it is customary to remove your shoes before entering the kitchen, especially when working in a traditional home. Chefs will warn you about the strong peppery heat of the local chili, and they’ll emphasize the importance of washing hands after handling raw fish or poultry.

Seasonal classes are offered during the almond harvest in April–May and the citrus season in December–January. You can join during the 'Sicilian Almond Fair' or the 'Citrus Festival' to experience freshly pressed juices and almond‑based desserts. Many venues host these events on weekends.

Yes, family‑friendly courses are available. They often include hands‑on activities for kids, such as pizza‑dough rolling, decorating cannoli, or making their own arancini. Parents can stay nearby while kids explore the kitchen in a safe environment.

Most travelers love the surprise of tasting the secret family recipe for a Sicilian sweet, like the 'Cucumilla di Sicilia', right after the class. The blend of aromas and the warm welcome of a local family’s hospitality makes the experience unforgettable.
