Chef Bagus was quite the comedian which made the class so much fun. The hands on experience was enjoyable and very filling as we got to taste along the way. At the conclusion we enjoy the banquet of food we produced along side of Chef Bagus friendly and supportive staff. I would recommend this experience to anyone who loves to cook or just enjoys food.
Maria allowed solo or groups. Fantastic knowledge and personalised experience in her own kitchen. Food was amazing and great information to follow up.
Water is gratis.
Enjoyed local meals
To cook together.
The walk through the local Legian food produce markets was very informative. The teaching of cooking methods with recipes to take away was well worth it.
Fabulous 10 course dinner we created! Very supportive of us having our 3 year old child present Loved it!
Learning techniques in a very friendly environment. Food super delicious. Ends with everyone sitting down together enjoying a feast.
Cooked several delicious dishes, plenty of food to eat at the end. Was a very fun experience and very well priced. Would definitely recommend!
Cooking classes are such a great way to experience different cultures and this one did not disappoint. Chef Bagus and his team were fantastic hosts. Our group was made up of different nationalities and we all blended together and had a lot of fun. So many laughs. Oh and the food was also delicious! Would definitely recommend and would do again when we return to Bali.
Great fun for all the whānau. Money well spent and great value. We all learnt lots and enjoyed all the kai. Thank you!!
We (me and my two sons - 14 and 11) had a great time learning about the ingredients, cooking and then eating! Would highly recommend.

Most cooking classes in Kuta focus on classic Balinese dishes such as Nasi Campur, Ayam Betutu, Babi Guling, Sate Lilit, and fresh seafood salads. You'll also learn how to make simple sambals and traditional desserts like klepon or cakep cakep.
Yes, many local schools offer a street‑food experience: you’ll visit the morning market to pick fresh ingredients, learn how to grill satay, make fried rice, and then cook a full meal in the open‑air kitchen.
Absolutely. Most venues provide vegan or halal versions of their signature dishes, using coconut milk, tofu, tempeh, or alternative protein sources while still delivering the authentic Balinese flavor.
Classes run from 2 to 4 hours. Group sizes are typically 8 to 12 people, which keeps the instructor’s attention high and allows everyone to practice hands‑on.
Most instructors speak English, Indonesian, and sometimes Spanish or French. Many classes provide bilingual subtitles or hand‑outs in multiple languages.
Shoes are taken off before cooking; use your left hand for passing ingredients to show respect. Be mindful of spice levels—many Balinese dishes are fiery, and it’s polite to ask about tolerance before eating.
Yes, during Balinese festivals like Nyepi or Galungan you can learn how to make ceremonial dishes such as lawar or ketupat, and some schools schedule classes around the harvest season to feature fresh tropical fruits.
Solo travelers can bond with classmates, couples can try pair‑work recipes, and families with kids benefit from hands‑on stations and safe cooking zones. Bring a small notebook to jot down recipes and try the local market at your own pace.
