We met some great people and enjoyed the markets and the cooking with amazing guides
This is a fabulous and fun cooking school which we did 15 years ago and decided to repeat the experience as it was a memorable one. It’s great that it involves the market showing all the herbs & spices and the fun boat ride to the venue. It’s very well run and you learn a lot about Vietnamese cooking. Highly recommend!
Excellent organization, very nice place, very pleasant. Highly recommended.
We had the absolute best morning. It was such a fun way to learn about food in Hoi An and Vietnam. Would recommend it for anyone!
Wonderfully organised tour and practical class, from farm to plate. A real experience for the senses and even better sharing the joy of Vietnamese food and cooking with passionate chefs Luna & Ba. Their instruction, tips and written instructions will be drawn upon in our home efforts. Overall a fun and wonderfully delicious experience that we would highly recommend to others.
Loved this cookery class at Redbridge which covered an excellent trip to the market, a short boat ride to the beautiful Redbridge grounds, and a first rate cooking class which was superbly organised.
So much fun, even in the heat. Really well run, excellent tuition with humour. I can’t believe how good the food that I cooked actually tasted!
Want to do it again
Luna Who was our guide and teacher was fantastic. She has a wonderful sense of humour and was very informative. We had a great day.
Great venue and facilities, well organised, excellent dishes, nice extras, nice staff. This was a well oiled machine. At times for me it felt like we were being processed. It was go go go push push push and it felt a bit like a farm. This took the shine of this event.
Enjoyed our class thoroughly. Our guide/chef, Chinh was friendly, informative and fun. A great learning experience!!
Really enjoyed every aspect of the class . We learned so much about the food and methods used to make it . They accommodated us being Gluten free .
We loved this cooking class with Thom. He taught us how to make some delicious authentic Vietnamese food which we will definitely be trying at home. Very friendly and fun vibe. Definitely recommend.
Tom was simply perfect; we learned so much about the food in the market, and he's a great teacher. I loved the work we did in the teaching kitchen. The boat ride was an extra treat and the location and facility were just gorgeous. Highly recommend.
All good. Chef Guide was excellent, and funny.
The instructor was great, the food was easy to prepare and delicious. I would highly recommend
Fabulous chef, entertaining and fun. A wonderful experience which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We loved everything about this tour. It is fun, informative and you get to make and eat delicious food. It was great to share this experience with a small group of travellers from around the world and share experiences about life, food and travel. Highly recommend this tour.
We heard about this experience via word of mouth. We are so glad we did this. We spent a great afternoon with a couple from Germany and a couple from Greece. We explored the farmers gardens and then the markets before heading to school. Luna? was a great host, she was funny and engaging. The dishes we made were yummy. We plan to make these again when we get home. A wonderful day which I highly recommend.
A fantastic and well-organized experience! The Red Bridge Half Day Journey was the perfect mix of culture, nature, and hands-on learning. The market tour, boat trip, herb garden walk, and cooking session were all engaging and authentic. Knowledgeable guides, warm hospitality, and great food made this a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend!
We had a great cooking class and dinner at Red Bridge and the setting is amazing. Chef Chinh and her entire team were all friendly and helpful. They’re super well prepped which made the class easy and fun and not too drawn out as some classes can be. The dishes were all great and she even showed us how to make netted spring rolls (a dish I hadn’t been able to master at home).
A well organised experience - starting with a walk through the market, a short boat ride and an intro to Vietnamese herbs, before the demonstrations & opportunity to cook 4 dishes. The ingredients were well prepared, the instructions from the staff were clear and the resulting food delicious! The team were courteous & helpful with food allergies & preferences - they had options at the ready for everyone.
Was fantastic to get a tour of the markets, boat ride, cooking demonstration and then do it ourselves and eat what we made. Staff were so knowledgeable and lovely and put so much prep into class. Lunch was delicious (and plentiful) too! Highly recommend!!! Thank you!!!
A guided tour of the food market before getting a boat up to the Red Bridge Cooking School. We made, and the ate some delicious food (and instructions to take away) before being dropped off back in town. Which seemed a little abrupt but otherwise would definitely recommend
Great cooking class on Hoi An, to discover some nice Vietnamese recipes. The class is happening in a cafe in the center of the town. The staff is very kind, speaks English well and takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. We participated in the evening course. For us, the cooking part could have been longer and more intense, as we felt it was a bit short. We only chopped, but did not fry/grill anything. Still, we had a wonderful time. The quality of ingredients was amazing and the dishes we received extra from the restaurant were very tasty. Definitely recommend!
Our daughter is a vegetarian and her food requirements were catered to easily. A lovely way to spend a morning, the market food tour is amazing and the cooking class was a lot of fun. Highly recommended.
This was a rainy day well spent. Thank you Gin! Highly recommend a day at the Red Bridge. A complete and well put together tour.
My parents and I had a fantastic time here doing a half day cooking class. Really nice staff and very easy to follow along.
This was a phenomenal experience that took us from the en clave where produce and livestock are raised to the market where we purchased food for our meal to the restaurant where we prepared it. This was not a cooking "demonstration" where we watched a chef do the work. Instead, we were guided through the steps of cutting, chopping, grilling and tossing that resulted in our delicious lunch. Recipes and cooking instructions were also provided so that we can attempt do do this at home.
We had such a good time, Tung was such a good teacher and made the class so fun and we learnt so much. We really enjoyed making the meals and learning about Vietnamese cuisine, and the meal at the end was so tasty. Would recommend for anyone in Hoi An to try this cooking class.
Great experience with passionate local chefs/cooks.
Amazing day. We took the full day class, made 4 delicious meals, visited the market and herb farm with a local chef, who totally knew her way around! It was incredible.
A fabulous cooking class with delicious dishes that we learnt to cook. Very hands on and expertly managed. The market tour beforehand was also very informative. Fun and delicious! Highly recommend.
Great cooking class and reasonably priced
We met at this cafe where we we offered a beverage, and then taken on a tour of the local food market, then on a boat ride to the restaurant where we taught how to make 3 vietnamese dishes. We then had lunch, and the staff made sure we had a way back to town. The staff were friendly, the chef was kind and funny. Honestly such a great experience
After a tour in the Hoi an market where we learned about Vietnamese cuisine and ingredients we took a boat to the Red Bridge cooking school. The host served us a cold fruit juice freshly made and we started the class right afterwards. The staff first explained about safety and then we learned and made together Vietnamese dishes - spring rolls - we made the rice paper ourselves - they explained how to make the batter and steam it over a fabric placed above boiling water, green papaya salad, traditional shrimp pancake, seafood salad served in pineapple and more. We finished with a lunch made by ourselves. For the Foody people I recommend taking the class. You can come at evening time to eat there as it is also a restaurant
We had a great time at the evening cooking class in Hoi's old town, making some delicious Vietnamese dishes under the clear and fun instructions of chef Chinh. There were eight of us in the group, and vegetarian variations were provided to the recipes (printed versions provided at the end of the night). Entertaining and great fun, with a delicious meal under the stars at the end of our lesson.
Starting with an exceptional coffee meeting with others in the group. Then off to walk the produce markets and learn about their food production. Followed by an oat rude upstream to the school sitting beautifully alongside the river.
I did the cooking class with my 11 year old daughter and we both really enjoyed it. The instructions were clear and there were plenty of people on hand to assist us when required. Our guide Ruby was great and our chef at Red Bridge was engaging and fun. The food we made was fantastic and we had a really enjoyable day.
Booked a market tour and cooking class via our travel agent. Red Bridge were fantastic. A great market tour, followed by a boat ride and cooking class. Instructions were easy to follow, we received recipe booklets to take home, and help was on hand to assist with our own cooking. Flavours were so fresh and tasted wonderful. They catered for gluten free, vegetarian, seafood allergy and peanut allergy on our tour. As a family with a 16 year old boy, i think he enjoyed it the most, but we all had a great time.
The cooking class with farm village visit was a fantastic experience. Skip breakfast (or make it tiny) you’ll be eating soon enough and full by lunch. This is a wonderful experience to do with friends or a partner. The teachers were friendly and supportive and really took the time to explain how and why all parts of the cooking experience matter. Bring a baiting suit and sandals along for the trip as they have a pool and you’ll be on your feet outside cooking for several hours after the walk. The head chef will help you buy knives, durian fruit (fantastic, but you only need a single bulb) and any kitchen supplies you might want during your market walk, where you’ll get fantastic quality and the best prices. Finally, the boat ride back to the city at the end of the class is a great way to see the river, and overall this was a lovely way to experience local cuisine and learn the market. I recommend doing it early on in your trip as a way to begin the experience in a highly curated way.
Absolutely loved the cooking class. Learnt so much and had heaps of fun. Chin was amazing, she was so knowledgable and great fun. I’d highly recommend. We had the best day. And the location was stunning!
Our family had a wonderful experience at the Red Bridge Cooking school. We hope to recreate the delicious food when we arrive home
Excellent introduction to tge Hoi An fresh meat, fish, and produce market. We learned a lot about the agriculture/fisheries and people of the local area. The boat trip to the Red Bridge restaurant was a delightful experience. Once there we had a hands on learning experience of four different dishes which then we also ate. It was topped off by a chef prepared lunch. Go hungry!!
We attended with Mi Mi who was knowledgeable and imparted her knowledge and expertise in a coherent and amusing manner. The voyage to the farm plots meeting 80 and 90yr old farmers seeing the methods of farming Then a visit to the market to purchase the rest of the ingedients.. Cooking with love we were able to produce a fantastic and surprisingly edible meal. Highly recommended.
Professionally organised an overall excellent experience, don’t think twice just book, from start to finish the whole half day was awesome
Great teachers, awesome staff. Really fun to cook delicious Vietnamese cuisine.
Our family of four did the evening class and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and we will definitely be making the dishes when we return home. The instruction was great, very clear and supportive, for our most experienced cook as well as our kids. It was fun, tasty and a great learning experience. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.
This was an amazing experience—cooking delicious food, enjoying the process, and having a great time with the best company and plenty to eat!
Just a great experience.
We did the half day cooking tour and class. Really excellent tour around the old town market, scenic boat ride to the venue. Our fantastic guide Ruby was very friendly and knowledgeable. When we got to the venue for the cooking class, the chef was excellent, modelled each dish for us before we attempted it ourselves. All the staff that helped were very friendly and never made you feel stupid for dropping the pancake during an attempted flip! We got to take home the recipes for everything we learned to cook. An excellent lunch was served - half our own cooking, half was professionally prepared.
meeting point in old town of hoi an. after a welcome drink the experience starts with an informative walk through the local food market. then a nice boat trip to the coocking class located next to the river in an lovely open house at a quite place. very friendly instructors and staff in general. fresh and extremely delicious local food. highly recommended!
Good fun, nice restaurant, chef explained everything, we enjoyed eating what we helped prepare!
What a wonderful evening this was! Our instructor was lovely and such good fun, we learned a lot. She also made us a bonus dish of fried taro root, which was delicious! The food we made, we sat and shared as a group afterwards and it was wonderful, especially with the bonus dishes of white rose and wonton that the kitchen threw in. All in all a lovely experience I'd highly recommend if you want a little introduction to Vietnamese cookery!
The teacher was great. He explain everything. The food was good. But when we start with dinner it was no relaxing atmosphere. The different dishes came fast and when we are not really finish the staff came for clean up the table. Please let everybody sit and eat and enjoy the evening.
The chef, Tung, was incredibly friendly and kind. Cooking with him was a lot of fun, and the recipes were fantastic – perfect for recreating at home. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful evening! 10/10
The chef spoke perfectly English, he was super friendly, and all the food was delicious.
This was a great class with a great instructor. She showed us how to make several dishes, all of which were delicious. She answered questions, and I feel like I can make these dishes in my kitchen at home now. The meal at the end was relaxed and lovely, we got to eat the food we made, as well as a few other dishes, in a beautiful restaurant setting. A great evening, and the food turned out amazing!
We had a fantastic time with Luna our chef and guide. Starting off at the herb farms just outside the town. We then explored the markets and bought the produce to cook 4 Vietnamese dishes. We went by traditional boat to the cookery school located in beautiful grounds. We helped Luna pepare the dishes. There was so much food for lunch absolutely delicious. We then went back to the town by taxi. I thoroughly recommend this experience
This was a very good class with a good overall demonstration. In addition 2 extra dishes were served and they were tasty. My only complain is that dinner was not served with rice, which was odd when eating Asian food.
The chef teaching us was really clear and funny. A good variety of food for vegetarians as well as meat eaters and they easily catered to my partners nut allergy. For me the perfect length of time but if you enjoy & are good at cooking I think you should look at the longer classes.
We had a great morning learning about the traditional Vietnamese food ingredients and where to buy them in the market. We prepared the food step by step with as much help as we needed. The food was delicious and I do very little cooking normally. The location and quality of the environment were excellent. The staff were helpful and entertaining! Well worth doing.
Best Cooking-Class ever!
Its a good and funny experience, but its not too special, most of the cooking classes are almost the same activities and prices.
Chef was great, good English, good explanations, good banter, just thought the class was a little basic, would have liked more participation in the preparation of the dishes and the cooking. The meal at the end was lovely. Having a small group was good.
Our guide and Chef Sang was most entertaining. The food was simple to prepare and very tasty!
The beginning at Hai Cafe was a bit strange. - Like mass tourism start of many groups. Then Mrs Ling took us to the organic herb garden. Although the weather was awful raining cats and digs- it was a nice experience. Market was really great then. And the cooking class with Chin and her crew was awsome. Friendly and competent.
The chef instructor was great! Very passionate and knowledgeable about Vietnamese food AND the food was fresh and delicious!! 🤩🤩🤩
What a very comprehensive experience, getting taken through the markets was really informative although felt a bit rushed. The ride on the river to the class was really enjoyable but the class itself was incredible - the chef was a true entertainer and very good at inspiring his students. The class was run very efficiently but you certainly didn't have time to think too long or muck around. The food was simple but yummy, and then after we'd already eaten heaps we sat down to a full on lunch. Nice to meet other 'cooks' over lunch. Highly recommended although I would book directly with Red Bridge as Cookly were more expensive as they are a 3rd party. Can't wait to try out all the recipes.
This was an excellent tour and an amazing experience from start to finish. The fantastic tour guide, the tour through the local fresh food market and beautiful herb garden and then on to our our cooking experience. The chef was not only a great instructor but also very entertaining. Then putting to practice what we were shown and finally finishing with a wonderful lunch. Highly recommend this experience
Both our guides (the one that took us to the market and organic village and the chef) were absolutely amazing! We had a great time and ate fantastic food.
We had lots of fun, learnt heaps and the chefs were great! Would highly recommend.
Had a great experience at the Red Bridge cooking school! Got to make different Vietnamese dishes and learn about all the flavours used. The class was very well organised in a lovely setting and would definitely recommend to others wanting try their hand and making traditional dishes.
Great class, accomodated my vegan request. So much food!
We enjoyed the experience, market trip, boat trip and food prep and eating!!
Loved it all .Value for money
The cooking class was so much fun, the teacher was so funny and engaging (also really good with a knife). We learnt a lot and had great food, would recommend!
Very good
Great experience
Great way to see the market, cruise the river and learn how to make a number of Vietnamese dishes. You’ll eat a lot of food too so have a light breakfast!
Great , learnt, had fun and ate tasty food.
the woman who cook was very profesional, very sympatic we have enjoyed this cooking class
Initially our booking was mucked up. We were booked into the 8.15 class but were told when we got there it was the 11am, after I had confirmed this time twice on email before leaving Aust. You kindly fitted us in at 9am class. Our friends who came with us had been last year and recommended we do it with them again. They said it had changed. Not going to the big herb garden and not getting a Red Bridge Apron. Cheers Robyn.
Loved it fun relaxed informative the guide was lovely .. worth the money especially if you are a foodie like us .. thanks so much and went to hai restaurant last night the duck was incredible
Set in 2 acres of stunning tropical gardens, with 3 open air ‘pavilion style’ buildings, the stylish Red Bridge is Hoi An’s leading cooking school.
Red Bridge Cooking School operates 1 classic half-day tour every day of the year. We will have guided tour in Hoi An’s colourful central market, boat trip on the Hoi An River, herb garden walk, 2 hours hands-on cooking class, and finish with lunch.
