Okonomiyaki is a beloved Japanese home dish, often described as a “Japanese savory pancake.”
In this workshop, you will make one of two types of okonomiyaki: a classic pork okonomiyaki, using fresh cabbage and tender pork belly. You’ll learn essential techniques such as mixing the batter, controlling the heat, and flipping the okonomiyaki properly.
To finish, top it with savory okonomiyaki sauce, creamy Japanese mayonnaise, and aonori seaweed, creating a rich aroma and deep umami flavor.
You will also make a second type of okonomiyaki—a flavorful seafood okonomiyaki filled with shrimp, squid, and clams.
As it grills, the natural umami from the seafood infuses the batter, resulting in a deeply satisfying taste with every bite.
This version is especially popular with seafood lovers.
As a side dish, you’ll prepare a refreshing Japanese cucumber appetizer.
Learn the fun and eye-catching accordion-cut technique, while enjoying its crisp texture and light, refreshing flavor.
This dish pairs perfectly with the rich okonomiyaki and is easy to recreate at home.
To conclude the workshop, enjoy a matcha and wagashi set.
You will whisk your own matcha green tea and savor it with beautiful seasonal Japanese sweets (wagashi).
Wagashi reflect Japan’s seasons and aesthetic sensibility, and their delicate sweetness pairs wonderfully with the deep flavor of matcha—offering a calm and memorable cultural moment.
