Request a Private ExperienceWithout a doubt, the very best part of the course was Olga herself. She is such an energetic and passionate woman, a true queen of pasta making! Her knowledge is incredible: she understands every detail about pasta, flour, and the entire preparation process. Her enthusiasm is contagious and made the whole experience both enjoyable and unforgettable.
This was our first cooking class ever and Olga set the standard really high! We had a great time and experience so we can truly recommend Olga. Not only because of her cooking experience but also as a warm person.
Olga, was an exceptional teacher explaining both the science and art of making fresh pasta! Thank you for the great conversation and for the education on the intricacies of making some of the best fresh pasta we have ever tasted. We highly recommend this class; it was a highlight of our time in Italy! Best The Hinckley family
We were lucky to find this gem with such short notice (we were only in town for 1 night). Allyson is absolutely wonderful! She was patient and knowledgeable. We loved the attention to detail, education, and pearls of wisdom she shared about all the dishes. Everything was delicious and flavorful. A great experience to have in Bologna with an amazing instructor. Thank you for the unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!
Michelle is phenomenal - not only her talent for pasta making, but she taught us both so much about cooking and the traditions of Bolognese cooking. We got to learn how to make 3 different pastas and 2 different sauces. If we come back to Bologna, I would definitely take another class with Michelle.
Bianca was the nicest chef and really guided us through every step of the way in order to learn how to make the original Lasagne Bolognese. Her husband Antonio showed us how to make different kinds of pasta while we waited for the lasagne in the oven. He also picked us up from the train station before the class started. They were so kind and guided us in a way that made it easier for us to learn to make both lasagne and tiramisu. We will definitely recommend booking a cooking class at Biancas if you want to learn to make lasagne the right way.
Loved it
Olga was an excellent host and provided very clear instructions during the whole cooking lesson. She also gave a lot of interesting insights and background to food in this region compared to others. I would highly recommend you give it a try!
We had such a great time together with Rita. Learning about the history of Bologna in combination with city walk an the food of the region. Making pasta and dinner in her private Italian home was awesome. Five Danish friends saying thank you ❤️
Our experience with Bianca and Antonio was fantastic. They welcomed us into their beautiful home and even picked us up from the train station. We learned several pasta shapes and made a delicious lasagna and tiramisu from her family’s recipes. It was a nice escape from the city with a beautiful view. We had a really great time and will recommend this to anyone visiting. Also, all of their pets were so welcoming too!
This cooking class was amazing! I truly felt the Italian cooking atmosphere. The guide was very passionate and knowledgeable, sharing tips and tricks to help us recreate the recipes at home. The group and the wine made everything even more special. I would love to do it again!
Very private,good fun,nice host
One of the best experiences we had while in Italy! Rita took us shopping, gave us some history of Bologna and then had us back to her beautiful home to learn to make pasta Bolognese and tortellini with Sage and butter. We learned so much, ate the wonderful food we cooked and had such great conversation with our warm and inviting host. Would recommend this experience to anyone!
Great experience! Host was charming and an excellent teacher. Food was amazing. We made tortellini, bow ties, tagliatelle, and ragu. Host with a short bus ride outside some trampoline so we got to see another part of the city too. One of our best travel experiences. Would highly recommend.
Host was charming and an excellent instructor (and great English speaker)! Food was superb. We learned how to make tortellini, tagliatelle, “bow ties “and ragu. Host’s home was a short bus ride outside Bologna central, so it allowed us to experience another part of the city, too. One of the great travel experiences we have had.
In a Bologna cooking class you’ll usually master classic Bolognese staples such as tagliatelle al ragù, tortellini in brodo, lasagne alla bolognese, gnocco fritto, and regional cured meats like mortadella.
Yes, many schools in Bologna offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten‑free options, using fresh local produce, plant‑based sauces, and gluten‑free pasta.
Most classes run for 2 to 4 hours and accommodate 4 to 8 participants, giving you plenty of hands‑on time.
Absolutely – solo travelers often find the small‑group setting welcoming, and many chefs encourage interaction with fellow guests.
Italian is the default, but most instructors also teach in English, German, and French to accommodate international guests.
Many programs start with a guided walk through Mercato di Mezzo or Mercato delle Erbe, where you pick fresh ingredients before heading to the kitchen.
It’s polite to keep your shoes on unless the kitchen asks you to remove them, wash your hands before starting, and respect the local habit of taking a short break for coffee or a glass of wine.
In autumn you can learn to cook porcini mushroom risotto, while spring offers artichoke dishes; some classes celebrate local festivals like the Festa della Madonna di San Luca with special recipes.
