Request a Private ExperienceLearnt about Indonesian spices and cooking. Great experience. Chef Teddy was very informative and presented with excellent detail. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would highly recommend this course
The entire was great, from meeting Endra and Adi who led the class, to the mixing of the spices through to cooking and eating! A brilliant day was had, suksma!
The chef was lovely and made us very welcome. The class was very interesting and the food very tasty. Very good value.
It was a great experience for my daughter, who really wanted to learn the Balinese kitchen. We enjoyed it. Comfortable with the hotel pick-up service and the timing. Thank you!
Was just my friend and I with the two chefs. They tailored it completely to one of us being vegetarian, the other a meat eater. Delicious recipes, we will definitely be remaking them when we get home! I love doing cooking classes when travelling, and this was by far the best we’ve done!
As always, friendly staff and exceptional organised kitchen and great tasty food. Highly recommend.
All the wonderful ingredients we used to make the chicken curry, kebabs and dessert
My daughter-in-law and I attended a cooking class at RajaBali and it was the most rewarding 2.5 hours of our trip. We were in the first class of the day, and because it was just the two of us, it felt like a private masterclass. We each prepared a different recipe from start to finish, with the opportunity to enjoy the delicious results for lunch afterwards. The experience was seamless from beginning to end. We were picked up from our hotel in Nusa Dua and driven back after lunch. It’s a fantastic activity for cooks of all skill levels. Chef Endra and his assistant, Ketut, were always nearby to offer guidance when needed, while encouraging us to do the cooking ourselves. Before we began, we toured the herb and spice garden, where we were introduced to the fresh ingredients we would be using. It gave us a wonderful appreciation for the flavours and traditions behind Balinese cuisine. The best part is that the experience didn’t end when we left Bali. Since returning home, I’ve made two of the recipes, and both were a huge success with family and friends. I highly recommend RajaBali Balinese Cooking to anyone who wants to take a little piece of Bali home with them. It was a memorable, hands-on experience that I’ll treasure for years to come.
Had a really lovely morning - the setting is serene - in a quiet secluded garden. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Food was delicious and enjoyed by all the family. Thanks
Great food and guidance from Chef. Agus Suastawa. Thoroughly enjoyable experience-highly recommended
Chef Teddy was absolutely fantastic, he made to experience such fun and enjoyable.
Learn to make a traditional Balinese paste from chopping and grinding fresh ingredients, then incorporate that into some of the 9 dishes we made. followed by eating them at a table on the beach. Teddy was a fun host with good culinary knowledge and humourous personality, explaining along the way and answering any questions we threw at him. While listed as a 4 hour course, ours went for 3 hours due to our own knife skills matching his, and with just 2 people there's less questions and more hands on work. We also got a little recipe booklet for all the dishes and paste we prepared for later reference. We booked for a Vegetarian version of the class, had to shift days to do that, but then heard others had to choose another day due to wanting a meat or seafood version, so nice to know that our choices were respected. If you're staying for a week in the area, flexibility helps and paid of for us. Our resort was an hour's walk back home, time to burn off all the calories we ate! A fun, well paced way to understand a part of the local cuisine.
The food was great
We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking lesson with Adi and Kadek at Raja Bali. The visit to the Spice garden was very interesting and we learnt a great deal about all the ingredients in the dishes we cooked. The boys were very helpful. We made two different satays and a chicken stew plus a dessert. We sat in the garden and enjoyed eating what we had cooked (couldn't finish the dessert so brought it back to the hotel for later!) We would definitely recommend this class ... they even have transport provided within the Nusa Dua area which was lovely. Definitely give this a go .. you won't be disappointed!!
Excellent customer service from the time of pick up to the time we arrived home. The chef and manager were excellent and the food was absolutely amazing.
In Nusa Dua cooking classes you’ll learn classic Balinese dishes such as Babi Guling (roasted suckling pig), Lawar (spiced mixed greens), Satay Lilit (minced fish satay), and Nasi Goreng (Balinese fried rice) among others, often featuring fresh local ingredients from the nearby market.
Yes, many cooking schools in Nusa Dua offer vegan, halal, and gluten‑free variations of their recipes, allowing participants to enjoy authentic Balinese flavors without compromising dietary needs.
Classes usually run 3 to 4 hours and accommodate 6 to 10 participants per group, giving everyone hands‑on time while keeping the class intimate and interactive.
English is the primary language in most Nusa Dua kitchens, with Indonesian and Balinese also used. Solo travelers are welcome, and many instructors offer one‑on‑one guidance when needed.
Shoes are removed before entering the kitchen, the right hand is used for serving food, and it’s customary to say ‘Terima kasih’ after meals; respecting local customs shows appreciation and builds rapport.
Yes, many programs start with a guided market visit where you’ll pick fresh fish, spices, and herbs, then return to the kitchen to bring the ingredients straight into your cooking experience.
During Nyepi and other Balinese festivals, chefs may showcase dishes like Kue Lapis, Babi Kecap or Gado‑Gado, celebrating local traditions and the seasonal bounty that comes with each celebration.
Many learners remember the communal dinner under a Balinese canopy, the taste of fresh seafood right after cooking, and the instant connection with fellow travelers through shared laughter and stories.
