Escape the crowds and explore the serene countryside of Japan on this unique experience led by a passionate vegan host who has practiced macrobiotics for over 30 years. This intimate activity combines gentle hiking, traditional Japanese sweets making, and a deeper look into macrobio-vegan living.

What to Expect:

• Scenic Hike: Stroll along a peaceful countryside path, suitable for small children and beginners, with a gentle slope and a walking time of about one hour. In spring (late March–early April), enjoy breathtaking cherry blossoms, or visit in autumn (late November) to see vibrant fall foliage.

• Picnic with Bento: Savor a delicious Japanese macrobiotics vegan bento, thoughtfully prepared by your host, amidst the tranquility of the mountains. (Bento preparation is included; you will not be making the bento yourself.)

• Traditional Sweets Making: Visit the host’s Japanese home and learn hands-on how to make authentic traditional Japanese sweets.

• Optional Experiences: Learn about macrobiotics and veganism, and visit the cemetery where the founder of macrobiotics is laid to rest.

• Flexible Activities: If you prefer not to walk or if weather conditions are unfavorable, the class can switch to indoor activities such as a soy sauce factory tour, origami making, or additional sweets making.

Your host warmly welcomes guests from all over the world, creating a cozy, at-home atmosphere where you can relax, learn, and connect.

Cronograma

• 10:30 AM – Meet the host at Bushu Nagase Station
• 10:45 AM – Hiking begins
• 12:00 NN – Lunch on the mountain
• 1:00 PM – Descend the mountain
• 2:30 PM – Traditional Japanese sweets making
• 3:30 PM – Tea and talk
• 4:00 PM – Return to the station
