We had the most amazing time with Mango and our small group, It was so informative and also interactive, not to mention the beautiful fresh food, I would recommend everyone book this cooking experience while in Hanoi, you will not regret it, Thanks Mango and team 😊
I loved that we started at the market. Mango (our chef) showed us lots of interesting produce and shared really useful tips. Then we went to her house where we started cooking. There were 4 of us. We had so much fun together. Mango showed us step by step what to do. She could do it with such ease, support and fun. I am really glad I chose this cooking class.
We had a fantastic cooking workshop yesterday led by Cherry. Dine with Locals handles things in a particularly professional manner. The dishes were delicious and easy to prepare. The atmosphere was good and the people were friendly. We are taking home a wonderful memory. We wish Cherry and her colleagues many more wonderful workshops and success in the future. Warm regards, Joop and Judith from the Netherlands
Alex is a wonderful guide. The workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the basics of coffee and different brewing techniques. It’s a great introduction for beginners. I highly recommend booking a workshop with Alex. We had a lovely time with Hazel on the cookery course, from our trip to the market to buy the ingredients we needed right through to the actual cooking session. We had great fun and learnt a lot of new things. Thank you so much for a wonderful time!
Our chef and teacher Hazel was very knowledgeable and taught as lots about Vietnamese cooking.
Great experience! Alex met us at the market, explained about the different fruits and vegetables, tofu, noodles etc and how to select them, with good humor and a gracious demeanor. The classroom and kitchen area were super clean, pleasant, and functional, and the lunch was so delicious and healthy! The fruit brandy was excellent, Alex even made egg coffee after lunch and provided a small gift too…100% recommended 😋👌🏾💫
we had done a private class with Mango. it was such a special experience and we had such a great time. Mango was very knowledgeable and knew a lot about food as she had worked in fine dining. In addition, she was also very sweet, patient and hospitable. To top it all, she also had a beautiful cake that she had baked to make my moms 70th birthday special. Highly recommend this experience to anyone coming to Hanoi!!
Hazel was a wonderful host! She took us to te market and explained us many different topics and cooking lesson was very entertaining. Location was very nice and all staff were very friendly. Highly recommend it! Cam On☺️
Highly recommend this class to any traveler looking for something unique and enjoyable.
Overall experience was great, would definitely recommend to try. We had a quick market tour to shop for local ingredients before the class. Chef Jesse was good at explaining the recipes step by step, and giving us more info. We made mango salad, springrolls, pho and egg coffee. We’ll definitely try to make some at home too! For the pho, I think it would also be a good idea to prepare a broth beforehand and just roughly show how it’s made then use the extra time to make another main dish. The group size was also just right. We were 9 in class that day. We also had a baby with us and there’s a small space in front of the kitchen to walk them around.
Mango, the chef, is so enthusiastic, full of energy, stories, knowledge and welcoming. the entire class, from market tour, to hosting her in her home, to delicious recipes and the cooking lessons is amazing. im easily bored but i had such a great time here with Mango and the group! her communication is so sweet!
My husband has made bread before and learned lots of useful tips! Our sandwiches were very yummy and we had lots of fun at the class.
A grab collected me from my hotel and I was met by the guide Hazel. After the group arrived we went around a local market near to the meeting place, Hazel had great knowledge about history and the food. We travelled by grab again to a beautiful home to prepare and cook the food with Cherry. Cherry was knowledgeable, funny and patient. We prepared banana flower salad, made traditional spring rolls, and an amazing soup with meatballs (vegetarian dishes was available). After preparing, making we ate the food with some lovely liqueur rice wine. I would highly recommend this event it was fun, educational and tasty. They provide all the recipes so if course I have had to go and buy a similar grater so I can repeat at home as I will be making the dishes again 😉
It was super nice. I would definitely do IT again. The food and the Guide were just perfect.
Our guide Mango was so informative, fun, energetic and made myself and my husband feel at ease (neither of us are good cooks). Going to the market before the cooking was a great experience, as Mango showed us the local fruits, veg and herbs! The venue for the cooking class was so beautiful. It was a small sized group which made the experience even better. And of course the food tasted amazing. Pick up and drop off was made extremely easy for us!
We had a really wonderful experience at the cooking class. The chef was super friendly and explained everything in great detail. A vegetarian option was no problem at all and it tasted amazing as well. We would definitely do it again anytime.
We were brought to a local market where we bought some ingredients for the cooking class. We joined a vegetarian group by chance, only thing to improve: better explain the activities programmed based on each one’s diet. By the way, there was Mango, a sweet and sunny girl who taught us many different recipes! She was funny and prepared! Beautiful experience, very recommended!
The chef is nice and cheerful. The meal is good and we are full and enjoy very much. First to deep fired.
Chef Mandy is nice and funny. The kitchen is spacious and clean. Worth the money. The dishes are delicious. We have fantastic time!
Great experience. Fantastic food and atmosphere A great opportunity to experience genuine Vietnamese food and the culture behind the food. MUST DO
This was a fabulous choice for many reasons, our cooking teacher was vibrant, friendly and engaged in great conversation throughout the afternoon. The selection of dishes were authentic Vietnamese and all had a secret ingredient which added to their flavour. The venue was homely yet set up as a professional kitchen. I would highly recommend this cooking class.
Jesse was the best cooking guide. The atmosphere was very chilled and the size of the group was also perfect. He explained everything very well and in a fun way- you couldn’t do anything wrong, the time just flew by. I would definitely do it again. Thank you!
We learned so many things. The egg coffee is the best I have ever tried. Cooking venue is supper clean and beautiful. Highly recommended.
Jesse, the best! I took a cooking class in Hanoi and it was a wonderful experience! I chose the vegetarian menu, and the staff was really attentive in customizing the dishes for me: I cooked noodles in broth with mushrooms (while the others had meatballs) and spring rolls with only vegetables, instead of shrimp. Everything was delicious and well-organized. An authentic, fun, and inclusive experience: I absolutely recommend it... and then a salad... finally, we had two coffees: egg and coconut.
Mango is so passionate in sharing her knowledge. I highly recommend you to join her cooking class. I dare to try different herbs and spices now!
That’s a fabulous Vietnam cooking class and enjoying entire process from visiting wet market to buy ingredient, making dishes and delicious food. Good leading from Chef Jesse. Convenient for tourists have cab to travel to the cooking venue point to point.
Mango has been really uplifting and very knowledgeable in regards to Vietnamese dishes and food ingredients, making the experience very enjoyable! And the dishes we made were fantastic!
Amazing cooking class with Cherry. We learn more about the Vietnamese cuisine and culture. And the food at the end was the best reward 😋
The class started with the lively local market tour and this was the great experience to know the real life of Vietnamese people. Following the tour we were invited to the gorgeous cooking class room and learned how to cook salad and spring rolls. we can learned not only how to cook but also the knowledge and history of Vietnamese cuisine including various ingredients. In total this was worth participating in this class to learn one part of the culture of Vietnam.
I liked that the chef gave alternatives in case we didn’t eat pork. We laughed a lot and learned a lot. Book this if you want to try REAL Bun Cha, not tourist version.
The cooking was well organized, and the teacher made it fun. I appreciated that it was simple enough to try again at home. Also enjoyed chatting with the small group!
We went to the market first, then cooked Bun Cha at a quiet local kitchen. The flavors were strong but delicious. And yes! The egg coffee is really that good!
Bun Cha is my new favorite food thanks to this class 😍 The chef was so friendly and showed us step-by-step, and egg coffee at the end was the cherry on top. A must-do in Hanoi!
I take mixology serious, and this was a great intro to Vietnamese fusion-style cocktails. The bar setup was cool, and the instructor knew his stuff. Fun and tasty evening!
It felt more like a dinner party with good company and hands-on mixing. The team was super welcoming and helped us get the flavors right. Honestly, I didn’t expect to like the rice wine but it went perfect with the food.
I enjoy making drinks but never tried Vietnamese cocktail before. It was very interesting with herbs like lemongrass and basil. Also the food pairing was spot on. The class was chill and friendly atmosphere.
We made 2 cocktails and paired them with fresh spring rolls and some grilled pork skewers. The instructor explained about traditional ingredients and let us be creative too. Great vibes and good music too
Best vegetarian food I tried in Hanoi, and I got to cook it myself! Ms. Mango taught us in such an engaging way. The local wine was strong but good 😄 Highly recommend this if you're into food and culture.
I am not vegetarian but still I join this and very worth it. I learned so much about the herbs and spices, and the market walk was my highlight! The instructor was kind and help us understand everything. 5 star
I booked this vegetarian cooking session last minute and was so happy I did! We cooked 4 dish, each one totally different. My favorite was the stir-fried mushroom. Everyone was friendly, made me feel at home. Will try these recipes when I'm back.
The market tour was super eye-opening and everything smelled amazing. I didn't even realize Vietnamese vegetarian food could be this flavorful! Cherry was very patient and explained each step clearly. The apricot wine was also a nice surprise!
A very positive experience in a pleasant setting, surrounded by passionate professionals eager to share their knowledge. A wealth of information was provided during the course and afterwards to supplement it. The preparation of different coffees was very detailed and precise; we learned in optimal conditions with state-of-the-art equipment. If I had to add anything, it would be more time (note that there was absolutely no rush during the workshop).
Very local feeling. The cooking house was traditional and cozy, and I liked that it wasn’t touristy at all. The group was small and we cooked together like family.
Loved the energy of the chef. She made everyone feel welcome and explained the steps clearly. Also, I was full after the second dish already but kept going. Just too delicious to stop!
We went to the market first, which was already a great start. I learned the names of many herbs I’ve never seen before. The cooking part was fun and not too difficult. My banh xeo turned out better than I expected!
I’ve worked in specialty coffee for years, but this was something different. The experience felt intimate, well-curated, and full of heart.
The class was beautifully paced and creatively guided. I loved experimenting with coffee and salted cream wish it was longer.
It’s not just about the coffee. It’s about understanding why Vietnamese people love phin so much. I like how the workshop made it easy even for people who never tried before.
This workshop was a great way to learn about Vietnamese coffee and experience a traditional meal. The instructor was friendly and informative, and the coffee-making process was interesting. The meal itself was delicious, but felt a bit rushed at the end. Overall, a good experience, especially for the price.
Learning to brew Vietnamese coffee with the phin filter was a fun challenge, and the coffee we made was delicious. We had a great night and definitely would recommend for any coffee lovers out there!
The traditional meal was a delicious spread of local specialties, and it was great to chat with Liam and his assistance about Vietnamese cuisine. This is a must-do for anyone wanting a deeper appreciation for Hanoi's surprisingly rich coffee scene.
We learned about everything from bean selection to roasting techniques. The hands-on experience was fantastic, and I especially enjoyed trying the strong Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. The meal was a nice accompaniment, but for me, the star of the show was definitely the coffee.
This workshop offers an engaging coffee experience and a delicious traditional meal to top it all off. A must-do in Hanoi!
Lyon was a fantastic host, incredibly knowledgeable about Vietnamese coffee and history. The workshop itself was a lot of fun, making all sorts of delicious coffees. A must-do for any coffee lover visiting Hanoi!
Not only did I learn about the art of coffee brewing in Vietnam, but I also got to enjoy a delicious traditional meal. The workshop itself was well-organized, informative, and engaging. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something more unique!
Our tutor guided us through the process of brewing Vietnamese coffee, and I left with a newfound appreciation for Vietnam
We wanted to try the vegan option and it was the MOST DELICIOUS vegan food I've ever had, and I'm not even a vegan! To top it all off, the food was fresh, the place was very homey and the host was extremely attentive.
Wonderful food and drinks. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of the dishes was memorable. Excellent experience!
Our hosts were incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about Vietnamese cuisine. The local wines were a wonderful pairing, and the entire experience felt authentic and special.
This experience was the perfect antidote to feeling alone on my trip. The delicious food, warm conversation, and family atmosphere made me feel right at home.
Relaxing with delicious food, local wines, and friendly conversation was just what we needed. We learned so much about Vietnamese culture and felt right at home with our hosts
It was a well-paced, enjoyable, and intriguing evening. We decided to book this for a party of 12 as a refreshing change from the usual restaurant dinner, and it exceeded our expectations. The location was intimate and cozy, and we felt warmly welcomed upon arrival. Once we began the dinner preparation, we found the pace to be just right. We had a delightful time creating starters and the main course together while listening to Lyon explaining the stories behind each dish. There was always something to do, and everyone had the chance to contribute without feeling rushed. Lyon and Ethan, our hosts, were outstanding - they made the experience both educational and fun, guiding us through the cooking process with humor and expertise. Despite our involvement in the preparation, the food turned out to be incredibly tasty!
Both of our hosts, Lyon and Ethan, were exceptionally professional and accommodating. The food they prepared was out of this world. Other guests were thoroughly impressed with the unique concept of Dine with locals, the delicious food, the stories and the connection made through your meals. Once again thank you for making our vacation in Hanoi an incredibly enjoyable trip.
We visited a local wet market and learned how to pick the ingredients guided by our host. Back at the kitchen, we got to learn how to make Vietnamese dishes and it was a lot of fun. The best part was probably the free beverages. We were parched after all of the activities and something to drink with our meals was really appreciated.
I was blown away by the depth of knowledge shared during the Dine With Locals cooking class. We gained insights into the unique flavors and techniques that frankly speaking we never really thought about. The explanations about the cultural significance of ingredients added so much value to the experience.
It felt like we were part of their community, learning not just recipes but the rich history behind each dish. Thank you Lyon and Ethan for such an immersive and memorable night!
We have attended many cooking classes and cultural experiences in Thailand and Singapore, but Dine with locals was truly unique. Ethan, our chef was fantastic, providing clear, step-by-step instructions and engaging everyone with cultural stories and cooking tips for Vietnamese meals. My wife and I are not as sharp as we used to be, but Ethan made everything foolproof which I really appreciated. The food was simply delicious and excellent. We finished everything and we couldn't agree on a favourite because everything was delicious. If you are considering joining a local cooking class, I would highly recommend Lyon's Dine with locals.
If you're looking for more than just a simple meal at a restaurant, this tour is the way to go. The market tour was a fantastic introduction to Vietnamese laypeople's lives, the cooking class was held in a beautiful setting, and the quality of the food we prepared was exceptional. The free wines were also great. We tried out apricot and silkworm wines, which we had never seen before and it was great and made the night even more special.
The personalized attention was outstanding. Everything from our car ride to the market tour to our meal was carefully planned and communicated. The fresh and local ingredients made the meals tasted so good. Can't remember the last time I had something that fresh.
I had the pleasure of attending the coffee workshop during my trip to Vietnam, and it was a highlight of my visit. The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of Vietnamese coffee traditions, and the hands-on brewing session was both educational and enjoyable. The meal included was absolutely delicious, offering a perfect complement to the rich coffee flavors.
My wife and I were initially hesitant about venturing outside the tourist scene for dinner, but this experience completely changed our minds. From the moment we arrived at our host's charming home, we were welcomed like family. The conversation flowed effortlessly as we learned about the dishes and Vietnamese culture. Each meal was incredible and we truly felt a sense of connection with our hosts. We left feeling incredibly grateful for this unique and unforgettable evening. Definitely recommend!
The warmth of their hospitality and the delicious food really made us connected with Hanoi and the life here. We also learned about family traditions, local history, and the Vietnamese way of life.
This experience pushed me outside my comfort zone, but the feeling of accomplishment after creating authentic Vietnamese dishes was incredible. Our hosts, Lyon and Hannah were patient and encouraging, making it a fun and rewarding experience.
This experience was the perfect antidote to feeling alone on my trip. The delicious food, warm conversation, and family atmosphere made me feel right at home.
Lyon and Ethan were not only skilled hosts but also fantastic chefs, guiding us through the cooking process with ease and humor. The highlight, of course, was the delicious meal we created together. It was a truly memorable experience and we learned a lot about Vietnam as a country.

The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and patient, guiding us through each step with clear instructions and helpful tips. Making Bun Cha was a highlight, and learning the traditional techniques really brought the dish to life.
