What to Expect
Discover the art of making Musashino Udon, a beloved dish from the Musashino area of Tokyo. Udon are thick, white noodles made from wheat flour, similar to pasta but much thicker. You’ll learn the unique foot-kneading technique used to prepare the dough, adding a fun and interactive twist to the experience.
Accompanying the noodles, we’ll prepare a flavorful dashi-based pork soup, a traditional pairing in the Musashino region. Along the way, you’ll gain insights into Japanese dashi stock and the concept of umami. When it’s time to eat, you’ll dip the freshly made noodles into the savory soup for a truly authentic experience.
To conclude, enjoy a simple Matcha tea ceremony paired with traditional Japanese sweets (Wagashi). This delightful ending offers a perfect balance of flavors and a glimpse into Japanese tea culture.

- Musashino Udon noodles
Udon is thick white noodles made from wheat flour. It is similar to Italian pasta, but much thicker. We make Musashino Udon dough by stepping on it with our feet.
- Dashi-based Pork soup
We will make the pork soup often served with the Udon in the Musashino area. We learn about Japanese Dashi stock and Umami. We dip the noodles in the soup when eating.
- Tea (Matcha) ceremony and Japanese traditional sweets (Wagashi)
After enjoying the fantastic Udon meal, we will get to taste Japanese sweets (Wagashi) and experience a simple Matcha tea ceremony.

Schedule
- 10:25 AM: Meeting time – The host will pick you up by car.
- 10:30 AM: Arrival at the cooking school and start of the hands-on cooking session.
- 12:30 PM: Meal time – Enjoy the Udon meal, followed by Japanese sweets (Wagashi) and a casual Japanese tea (Matcha) ceremony.
- 1:00 PM: Finishing time – The host will drive you back to Higashimurayama Station.
