More than a cooking class this was like going to our family and helping out in the kitchen. Tej, Nidhi and their daughter were the most amazing hosts, from showing us the local market to telling us about their family, customs, day-to-day, cooking and eating habits all the while making exquisite food. They were very accommodating to our needs and wants. Coziest experience ever, can recommend with all my heart!
This cooking ecpetience was just great : so nice people, very professional explanations, easy to re-do meals. I highly recommend Sophie (French pastry chef)
Excellent introduction to Indian food (we were a group of 3), the ingredients used and the principles of preparing a meal. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Royal, Nidhi, and their daughter Angel literally invite you to be a part of their family when you visit Suroth House. From the moment we walked in, we were not simply “cooking students,” we were new friends who got to know and learn about each other — exchanging travel stories and learning about culture. Of course, we did some cooking, too. Royal and Nidhi showed us several different dishes, all of which we now feel confident to replicate at home (and they send the recipes afterword, as well). We left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. When you are away from your own family during travels, being a part of someone else’s, even just for a night can be so comforting. And that is exactly what happened for us with the family at Suroth House. To say we felt welcomed would be an understatement. We’d highly recommend this cooking class if you’re visiting Jaipur.
I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class with Payal. We met at the spice shop where she explained the spices that are used in cooking and the relative ratios and then we went to get the veggies at the market. Back at her kitchen we prepared the meal as she explained the processes involved in cooking Indian food and how and why they work. It was very enlightening and delicious, well worth the time.
If you love cooking or enjoy Indian food, this is a great way to appreciate it more. You’ll get to see what goes in it and how they do it. On top of that, they will also make you feel at home. Suuuuper welcoming family and they’ll accommodate you. Good conversations with them! They’ll really make you feel at home. You’ll also receive a PDF menu after the class. If i can give them 10 out of 5 stars, i would. Hahahaha. 😊
We learned so much about Indian food, ingredients and why certain foods are eaten at certain times of the year! Thank you again for a wonderful morning of cooking!
A truly enjoyable, knowledgable, relaxed and mouthwatering experience with Royal, Nidi and Angel. Would recommend this to anyone!
Warm welcome from the cooking host, Tejveer and his family, made me feel at home. This is a must do for those who want to explore more about India, especially all foodies. The school also provided a market tour, so I've got to learn more about India tradition and their ways of life. Fantastic experience :)
What can I say, I read the reviews before booking and all said it was an amazing experience, well I totally agree. The evening started with introductions, a cool rose sherbet drink and various nibbles. Then off in the car to the market we went. We were taken to a veg stall that had been used by the family for many years. All ingredients were purchased and off we went back to the home to commence cooking. We were taught how to make pakoras, Dahl, chicken handi, okra dish, breads etc. Each step was clearly explained and the reasons given as to why certain ingredients were used. Then the best bit, we sat with the family to eat what we had prepared. I can honestly say that every single dish was mighty tasty. But the highlight for me was spending time with this beautiful, welcoming family, who we immediately felt we had known for years. Tales were exchanged and lots of laughter was had. Angel the daughter is an absolute little star and very entertaining in her own right. If you have the good fortune to attend one of these classes be sure to ask the host about his train ticket experiences, I will say no more but it’s one of the funniest stories I’ve heard in years. All too soon the night was over, a taxi was ordered in the strict instructions that we rang to advise as soon as we got back to hotel, so that he knew we had arrived home safely. A must do experience when in Jaipur, thank you for a most memorable evening x
