Immersive food experience
If you’re booking a food tour in Marrakesh, Ismail is an incredible guide.
Before the tour even began, I was a little anxious. My riad was tucked deep into the medina, and I was genuinely worried about getting lost trying to find the meeting point. The alleyways in Marrakesh are beautiful but can feel like a maze. Ismail was so reassuring from the start, quick to respond, clear with directions, and very patient. He immediately made me feel at ease.
The food was excellent and thoughtfully curated. We started with a comforting traditional soup and worked our way through a variety of different dishes and flavors. It was not just one long meal in a single place. It felt like a journey through Moroccan cuisine. From savory street bites to more substantial dishes, and finally ending with sweet delights and tea, everything felt intentional. The pacing was perfect. It was not rushed and it was not dragging. There was just enough time to enjoy, talk, and digest between stops.
One thing that really stood out was how knowledgeable he is. The conversations were just as memorable as the food. I learned so much about Morocco’s history, cultural influences, and how deeply food is tied to hospitality and daily life. I was grouped with a French family, three of them, which made for a nice dynamic, and Ismail navigated the group effortlessly.
He speaks English extremely well, which made everything easy to understand and allowed for deeper conversations. Nothing felt lost in translation, and I never felt confused or left out of the discussion.
At the end of the evening, he walked me all the way back to my riad because I had mentioned I was nervous about getting lost and about walking alone at night. He did not make a big deal of it. He just made sure I got back safely. That small gesture meant a lot.
If you are looking for a food experience in Marrakesh that feels immersive, educational, and genuinely welcoming, this was exactly that.
