In this cooking class, we can cook Japanese sweets together!
We will make fruit daifuku, Warabimochi and Sakura Mochi. Sakura mochi is another classic Japanese sweet, which is a pink-colored mochi with a sweet soybean paste filling and is wrapped in a pickled cherry leaf.
Enjoy the yummy Japanese traditional sweets with Matcha after the lesson!
A beautiful pink mochi that symbolizes Japanese spring. You will learn how to prepare the soft, grainy rice cake filled with smooth sweet bean paste, all wrapped in an edible pickled cherry blossom leaf. It offers a unique balance of sweet and slightly salty flavors.
A traditional summer delicacy with a jelly-like, melting texture. We make this using bracken starch, served with a generous dusting of Kinako (roasted soybean flour) and a drizzle of Kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup). It’s a refreshing and healthy vegan-friendly dessert.
A modern favorite! You will master the art of wrapping juicy seasonal fruits and sweet bean paste in soft, stretchy mochi. We’ll focus on the "cutting technique" to create a stunning, colorful cross-section that is perfect for photos.
To complete your wagashi journey, you will learn the traditional way to prepare Matcha. Using a bamboo whisk (Chasen), you will whisk your own bowl of premium green tea to enjoy alongside your handmade sweets. I’ll also share the basic etiquette of the Japanese tea ceremony.
