Experience Mochi-Making in a Local Tokyo Home!

Join me for a hands-on lesson that lasts about 2 hours, where you can enjoy making and tasting five different kinds of mochi: Fruits Daifuku Mochi, Three-Color Dango (mochi on skewers), Warabi Mochi, Isobe-Mochi (savory grilled mochi with soy sauce and nori seaweed), and Mochi Ice Cream.

During the class, you'll also learn about the deep cultural significance of mochi in Japanese tradition, providing a wonderful gateway to understanding Japan.

I am a certified instructor with the Wagashi Promotion Association Japan, well-trained to teach Mochi and Nerikiri Wagashi in English.

Since my daughter has a wheat allergy, I've been making Japanese sweets, which are mostly gluten-free, as her snacks. When I lived in England, I also enjoyed making Japanese sweets for her friends. They looked so happy, and it inspired me to share Japanese sweets with people around the world.

Unique and intimate experience!

Kaoru-san is an amazing and personable teacher. She provided us with a history lesson on mochi and how Japanese culture is influenced by it. The recipes provided are easy to follow and you get to keep them as well. The mochi we made were so oiishi and we can't wait to make them again at home!

Very interesting and fun

We learned a lot about Japanese culture related to mochi, the symbolism of the colors, the association with festivals, and how mochi are used in everyday life. We learned about the ingredients and then of course got to make our own with some guidance. Finally we got to enjoy our creations. Beautiful home and very professional and helpful host.

Perfect

Kaoru organized a perfect mochi class. Good prescriptions, very good ingredients and materials. Easy to understand, well prepared in a relaxed environment. She even gave a teaceremony. Afterwords I got picture from the inspiring session. Very statistiek.

Fun an informative & Kaoru's English was good!

Nice Japenese experience making traditional mochi. I liked that it was in her home and you get an extra demention of Japense life style. Compared to other activity prices this was reasonable. I would recommend Kaoru if you are interested in Mochi.

Excellent

Kaoru Sama is a wonderful teacher and is also very sweet. She took us through the history of mochi and the seasonal and festive relevance of it. She was very patient and spent a lot of time to give us hands on experience in making many varieties of mochi, both sweet and savory. Cooking is more about being intuitive than following a recipe, and Kaoru sama teaches you intuitiveness necessary for making mochi. P.S: go for the class on an empty stomach because Kaoru Sama will fill you up with more mochi than you can handle
