Food was outstanding and leaning how to make an classic authentic Taiwan was very fun. Our instructor Angela was outstanding and funny. Great time with family and friends.
Sofia was so nice and cool! She taught me so much about the different indigenous groups around Taiwan and explained all of the ingredients so well. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is looking to learn more about the plants used in indigenous cooking. And to enjoy a delicious meal!
We are a family of four. Diana has been duch a nice and patient teacher!
Nice, small group and an inspirational teacher. We really enjoyed it.
Diane was friendly and funny. She was so easy to learn with and playful in the kitchen. We learned a lot and you could tell her experience made her skill in the kitchen like a dance. A fun class, would definitely take another one
Among the many delights of Taiwan was this amazing Indigenous cooking class by the wonderful chef and teacher, Sofia, who taught me about the ingredients, nutrition and history of Taiwanese highland indigenous communities. The convergences with the ways of life, cooking techniques and ingredients with Northeast India, especially Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India. Sofia's wealth of knowledge is incredible. She adapted the class as per my interests. She went out of her way to help me procure some ingredients later on as well! The menu we prepared together: Red millets (from the Bunun community) wrapped in turmeric leaves; moss salad; pumpkin soup with dried pea beans and a bit of cane shoot; three types of fern and arrowroot; chicken in the precious Mackauw/Magao peppercorn (from the Amis community) with bitter aubergines and young corn. Washed down with rice beer that Sofia kindly brought!
We were only 2 participants and had a great time. Our class went much longer than officially planned, because the conversation just kept flowing. Denise is doing it out of passion and you can really feel it. Highly recommend!
The space was warm + welcoming as was Wayne. He had everything well organized + prepared for us. We appreciated his clear instructions and enthusiasm to share so many useful cooking tips and tricks (andTaiwanese culture!) with us. We had a great time + left full from the delicious feast we made, confident in our ability to recreate it to share with others at home. :)
Excellent class

Learned new cooking techniques and use of ingredients! I enjoyed the cooking class very much and will try the recipes once I get home! Thank you Chef Wayne!
We were really lucky because no other people have booked the class that day so it was just me and my friend which was really cool. The atmosphere was also very chill and Jin was so patient and good at explaining and answering all our questions about the food and her culture which there is so much more to learn about!
We loved all that we learned and ate with Chef Wayne!! All ready to start cooking like Chef at home with our new recipes and tricks of the trade!
Our large multigenerational family thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class with Jin. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Taiwan. We learned so much and can’t wait to try making the dishes at home. She was also able to accommodate our nut allergy. Highly recommend!!
