Be sure to be at the easy-to-find pickup point plenty of time, he will appreciate that!
(Tokyo is big, we almost miscalculated the travel time and walking at the stations to change lines, but were on time)
Wonderful Class with great helpful hosts, Masa and Junko! Had a great time in a relaxed setting, and the food was good and great to see made in person (of course we got to make it as well). This might be the start of my adventures booking with "Cookly" around the world.
The cooking experience at Emi's house was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Emi welcomed us and immediately, after putting us at ease with some excellent tea, taught us how to prepare some of the most famous dishes of Japanese cuisine. It was an experience we will never forget and we hope, one day, to be able to go back and cook together with Emi.
Even though the length of the course is listed at 3 hours, the time flew by so fast. Great staff/instructors were very helpful the whole way through, even giving some history behind the lessons/food as the class went on. It was much more in-depth than I originally thought, and that's not a bad thing. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, it was fun to get lost and walk around before the class got started.
Highly recommended if you can fit this into your schedule when in Tokyo.
My wife and I always try to do a cooking class when we travel. The thought process is that we get to learn about how folks prepare food in the place we're visiting, meet someone who lives there, and enjoy great food together. This was a 10/10 for what we were looking for. Sato was a great teacher and was a fun person to spend a couple of hours with. The food was incredible (props to Sato for making it easy :D) and it was a wholesome, fun experience to share the meal we made together.
On top of this, we showed up late after I mixed up the scheduling. Not a very nice thing to do when the chef has a busy day. Sato didn't hold it against us and quickly was joking around just like friends back home would. I don't advise showing up late! Just expressing my gratitude for the class teacher being kind and fun even when the students showed up late!
Asakusa is one of our favourite places and I definitely recommend this place. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Tokyo. I always had great joy making Ramen and after this experience. If I want Gyoza, I will always make it from scratch 😁👍
Run by a super kind couple, we learned from scratch how to cook ramen and gyozas with a Japanese chef. The broth was so good, and thanks to the tips from them, we did great ramen and gyozas. We can't wait to try it at home! We had an amazing time and we highly recommend it, don't be afraid if you see there are no reviews, they literally just opened, but give it a try, you won't regret it. It was a fantastic day!
The experience was amazing, going to the suburbs and being welcomed in a local home is beyond great!

Miki and her other assistants were great. I like the small group class. Very individualized and we make 7 varieties of sushi, Miso soup and sake tasting. I would definitely recommend this class to all of my friends.
As someone new to Japan, I ended up being 15 minutes late to the class because I took the wrong train ;(
Despite that, the instructor was very nice, and we managed to take our time through the whole class. It was fun learning the three different types of sushi, and I feel like I'm able to take these skills and practice them back in the USA :)
She was fun to talk to, and was happy to share her knowledge of Japan. The food was super great too, when it was ready. This was a very rewarding experience with an engaging person to teach you. I highly recommend 😁
Our guy was a joy to be with. Even though the weather was downpour he made our trip eventful for all the right reasons. Our guide - Tetsu -really spend time educating us about the market and going out of his way to show our family of seven a great time. If I return to Japan he would be one I would love having show me his wonderful city
"Masako-san provided an experience of a lifetime."
Masako-san and her assistant Akemi-san welcomed us to their cooking studio ready to go - showing us how to prepare five different dishes, including udon, which was made the old-fashioned way. We could not have asked for a better introduction to Japanese cooking and culture. It was hands-on instruction, where we created tasty dishes and learned about recipes handed down through the generations. We highly recommend this class and hope you're able to meet Masako, too.
Pleasant class in which we learned how to prepare a dashi, a proper Japanese rice, made our own mochi with a strawberry inside, and learned how to properly behave in a Japanese restaurant. The chef was super nice and answered all kinds of questions. Overall, a nice experience and opportunity to meet a local chef in Tokyo.
Really enjoyed the class yesterday afternoon. It was great to learn more about the history of Japanese cooking and culture. The instructors had perfect English and were really friendly and helpful. I was impressed at the amount of sushi we were able to prepare in the time. I would definitely recommend this class, thank you cooking sun! 🍱 🍣
My friend and I originally booked the sushi class but since I am vegetarian, we asked for a vegetarian sushi option. Unfortunately this wasn’t possible but Emi offered to teach us another japanese dish. We decided to cook Okonomiyaki and it was delicious! We also cooked a soup and prepared a sidedish and in the end Emi gave us a japanese orange, it was soooo good.
Emi was lovely and made sure we felt comfortable. She picked us up from the station and walked us back to the station after the class, such a sweetheart. Her english was great so it was super easy to hold a conversation with her.

We had a wonderful day learning and cooking with Yuki and her family at her restaurant. A very personal experience where we learnt the tradition of cooking, eating and drinking. Recommended to anyone in Tokyo wanting a great experience learning about traditional kaiseki ryori food and a wonderful host!
"A super interesting, insightful tour of traditional wasabi farming!"
David was incredibly kind to us, and whilst we had some rather wet weather, he made sure we were comfortable and safe whilst trekking up to the farm.
Tasting the real wasabi was great! We got to try two types of wasabi, as well and remove some sprouts from a fully grown root and plant them in his farm.
David told us all about the local area, his experiences whilst travelling, and asked plenty of questions about us too! It was a wonderful conversation, and we're looking forward to meeting him again in the future.
I would highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in nature, Japanese culture, or tasty food.
We learned a lot about the ingredients and steps to prepare vegetarian Gyoza, miso Ramen and dessert. Kaori teached us also some cooking tricks to get the perfect structure. Chatting about our cultures was fun, too. If you are looking for a pleasant vegetarian or vegan cooking class - Kaori‘s is the right one! Thank you very much, we enjoyed our time!
This class was really incredible! My husband and I were lucky enough to get to do a private ramen making class with Nahoko. She is an amazing teacher, took us through every step so we can make our own ramen at home, let us taste her homemade miso, and helped us cook the best ramen we had during our entire trip to Japan! She welcomed us into her home like we were family and we got to eat ramen and chat with both her and her husband at the end of our lesson - they both are incredible people with such knowledge and passion! Nahoko helped us not only with ramen but with other aspects of our stay and kept in touch after the class. It felt like we made an immediate friendship that we will cherish for a long time to come! This class exceeded our expectations in both cooking and friendship!
Sato was super fun and gave a great history of Japanese cooking while we were preparing our lunch.
Lots of laughs and I really enjoyed the background and cultural significance of each step and ingredient.

I had a great time with Emi. Really relaxed and informal fun time at Emi's home. Learned a lot about sushi and made some really interesting dishes! Definitely go with an empty stomach as there is so much delicious food to eat by the end!
We absolutely loved the class! Chisato said it was her 1st class teaching foreigners but she did an amazing job! We learned all kinds of methods to make cute Totoro Bento. They also told us where we can buy the ingredients so we can try to make at home. We forgot our umbrellas and they quickly contacted us and offered to bring our umbrellas to our hotel. We told them it was not needed. but wasn't that so thoughtful and nice! Highly recommend the class!!
Loved this cooking class and tour experience. Satoru is very friendly, knowledgable, and honest. He's very proficient in English and he was able to explain some of the nuances of Japanese culture when we had questions. The food was fabulous and the stories memorable! We were in Japan for the holidays and Satoru was gracious enough to give us a tour and cooking class on the morning of New Year's Eve. It was my partner's favorite part of our Japan trip. You won't regret it!

Our sensei taught aus a lot about japanese ingredients, how to use them, about traditional dishes with entertaining stories and historical context. She was professional and "working" together was very fun. The Sake tasting together with our cooked dishes were fantastic.
We will never forget our experience and would do this again any time!
This was a great cooking class. Kazuko spoke English very well and communicated the lesson extremely well. Her preparation was very good. We started from fanning the hot rice to seasoning the rice and cooking the eggs. Rolling the sushi was very easy with the precut cucumber, salmon, eggs, and other garnishes. The sushi was very tasty too and each of us made two rolls. One to eat and ther other we took back to our hotel. This is worth the trip and hope to do it again on another dish.
Grateful for this opportunity and best way to learn the Japanese culture by cooking with the guidance of Japanese instructors whom can communicate in English.
It was great immersion for my son whom wanted to understand more about Japan in an up close personal way , what better way than through the stomach 😉.
The kids love the experience as they transit from usual theme parks visits to cooking classes.
Sato has been an exquisite host, we managed to cook some incredible traditional ramen and gyoza. I really recommend having this experience while in Tokyo, he brought us around his neighborhood and had a chance to talk and laugh about everything.

We had an amazing time with Nahoko-san! She explained everything extreme well, had step by step instruction for us to take home, and made the entire ramen making experience very fun! Nahoko-san even spent some time talking with us after we finished our ramen, it was perfect. I would highly recommend cooking with Nahoko-san!!!
I have been staying abroad in Tokyo this past semester. When my parents came to visit, my mother booked us a cooking class with Sato for us to get a taste of home-cooked Japanese cuisine. Upon meeting Sato at the train station, I knew we were in good hands. He was welcoming, funny and a great tour guide as we wove through the streets of Shinjuku to his apartment. He carefully walked us through each step of the cooking process while carefully explaining the cultural significance of seasonal ingredients in Japanese Cuisine. He even provided the freshest ingredients from his family’s farm. He gave detailed instructions and was engaging throughout the entire process. We laughed, shared life stories, and bonded over a love of food. Not only was the entire process inspiring, but the results were well worth the labor. One of the best meals I have eaten here in Japan (and maybe even in my life). You can truly taste the love in the dishs, and the fresh ingredients that I learned so much about only made the meal taste that much better. I cannot wait to get back to a non-dorm kitchen to recreate these dishes for myself. Sato’s food and instructions were top notch and I also left feeling a greater sense of connection to Tokyo and Japan. Sato recommended upcoming festivals in the area, his favorite spots around Tokyo that I need to see before the semester ends, and support if I ever need any. I am truly so thankful my mother booked this experience, it was one of the highlights of their 3 week trip and one I have been raving to my friends about. Sato’s welcoming nature felt like home, even though 6,000 miles away. This was the home cooked meal I needed and a memory with my parents that I will cherish forever. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Sato is #1! We ❤️ you!
"A fantastic sake learning and tasting experience from Yuma!"
Yuma was an excellent host and took us through everything we could need to know about sake from its production to tasting notes.
We tried 5 types of sake of different kinds and had around 3-4 'bonus round' sakes so we tried a lot more than advertised which was much appreciated. The snacks provided were also excellent and complemented the sake well!
Thanks so much Yuma and I would recommend this class to anyone in Tokyo looking to learn about sake in a welcoming and warm environment!
Located in a cute shop just outside Asakusa station, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience and better hosts. We had a large group of 9 including one in a wheelchair. They were quick to accommodate, and managed to teach all of us how to make traditional Tokyo style ramen and gyoza. The food was amazing, and the hosts were warm and personable. Even if you’re short on time in Tokyo, this is 3 hours well spent. 10/10 recommend.
Yuriko, our guide took us on a tour of the old and new Tokyo fish markets. We were in constant amazement at her knowledge and access to ingredients and wares not seen before! We can’t thank her enough for our fun tour - we could have continued for days!

We enjoyed every minute of our cooking class, not only was the food delicious, Kaori was an amazing host and teacher. She kept the recipe simple and easy for us newbies to follow, which was much appreciated.

My partner and I attended Nahoko’s house for a cooking class to learn about and prepare ramen and gyoza.
We were greeted with a big welcoming smile from host Nahoko. We began by preparing, wrapping and eating the gyoza. The gyoza were so tasty it was hard to not eat them all at once to ensure we could save room for the ramen! We then made the ramen and Nahoko shared some of her secret recipe hints with us. The ramen broth and ingredients were so flavourful and we both were very full and satisfied after eating it.
We can not wait to host a dinner party and put our new skills to use!
The night was so great that we will be visiting Nahoko again next trip in Japan to learn more to further our knowledge.
I would highly recommend this class to all groups ranging from couples to families to friends.
From the beginning when we first met Emi at the train station to when she walked us through step by step how to make miso soup, classic Japanese omelette, three various types of sushi to even walking us through the supermarket to show us specific teas and soups, we felt so welcomed. She went above and beyond for us. Her English was excellent and had a large range of knowledge about Japanese culture and food. Could not recommend this class enough!
