We started with a tour of the neighbourhood. It was really fascinating and we learnt a lot about how the locals shop and cook, what they eat, and on what occasions. Afterwards, we prepared the ingredients we’d bought in the kitchen. There were only two of us on the cooking course, which meant we learnt a lot and were able to ask plenty of questions. Özge and Aishe were very warm and welcoming, and we felt very much at home throughout the evening. I recommend doing the cooking class at the start of your holiday so that you can buy the many delicacies you discover over the next few days. We were also able to take the leftovers from our home-cooked meal home with us. You also get a PDF with the recipes so you can recreate them at home.
We had a great time with our Cookistan instructor and her assistant. Started with a very informative street tour, stopping at a bakery, a street stand, a fish market and an offal store, specializing in organ meats. Then we went to the delightful studio school. The entire day was extremely well-organized, beautifully paced. We did some hands on prep and cooking. We made several dishes, including a simple but lovely, dessert. We also received a PDF of the recipes we prepared—plus other recipes. Our instructor also texted us some restaurant recommendations near our hotel. Overall a wonderful, culturally enriching experience. Highly recommend Cookistan Turkish Cooking Classes.
My partner and I had the most wonderful day! We had so much fun making all the recipes in their beautiful home, and learnt so much about the Turkish culture as well. The food was amazing and we can't wait to make the food at home! Özge, Hazal and Katia were amazing hosts and felt like family. Thank you ladies so much! It was the highlight of Istanbul for us 🙂 definitely would recommend!
I’ve never made homemade phyllo pastry dough and would have been intimidated to try on my own. This was a fantastic window into a world I’ve never known. It was a good time.

This was fast pace but super fun, the chef will only go at the speed if she knows you can handle it. We were given 4 different menus and you can choose what you wanted to cook which was brilliant. After cooking we sat down to eat what we had made. The class was informative and really fun. Totally recommended to anyone!
Selin and John are so nice and friendly. All the dishes are easy to make and taste really good. It’s a great experience to cook and eat local Turkish dishes in a Turkish home. We have a wonderful morning and lunch time together!
This cooking class was one of the highlights of my trip to Istanbul. Aishan took us on a wonderful tour of the Pangalti neighborhood and then guided us in making an extraordinary six-course traditional Turkish meal. The ambiance was incredible, and her and her sister were extremely hospitable. If you visit Istanbul, this class is a must!
Once you Enter Aysin home you will feel the warmth and coziness of it. You wont feel that you are a stranger, you would feel that you are in your own home and with the two lovely sisters, as being your own sisters, We had a great time, cooking was fun and yummy, Aysin made cooking so easy. I love the full experience and would do it again and again,, I recommend all to go for it, I would like to thank the two nice sisters for hosting us,, and because of you both I loved Istanbul more.
I took this class a couple of weeks ago and I received a wonderful cooking class. I learned how to cook various Turkish and Ottoman Cuisine from scratch such as Yayla çorbası, Zeytinyağlı taze fasulye, Ispanaklı saç böreği and more. If you would like to experience the traditional Turkish food in a relaxing and friendly environment during a short stay in Sultanahmet, this class is highly recommend! :)
