What a fabulous afternoon we had!
Our group was small( only 3 students)
First we were expertly guided through Moroccan customs, like the tea ceremony or cooking a Tagine in a public oven and collection and use of Moroccan spices by the lovely Yomna who accompanied us all afternoon as our translated. Her English is impeccable her manner gentle and kind.
The kitchen was beautiful, spotless and well equipped as one would have expected from such an institution.
The cooking lesson was run by the experienced and kind Dada Habiba.
She lovingly guided us through all the required steps of chopping, frying and seasoning of a ‘Chicken Tagine with preserved Lemons’ and two salads. She also demonstrated how to make the bread and how to preserve lemons. She was fully concentrated on us and was very encouraging.
Time went by way too fast, we had so much fun and I would love to see an extension of the program to different courses, and perhaps a full day course so I can return to learn more on my next visit to the beautiful Marrakesh.
A very special surprise followed when we had finished the cooking - apart from a certificate we also received a present of a clay Tagine pot. I can’t wait to put into action what I have learnt as soon as I return back home to England.
At the end we were served our “ creation” by a waiter of the main restaurant, and he even packt half of my meal so I could take it away and share it with my husband.
It was a wonderful experience.
Thank you to all staff of Maison l’Arabe for a fantastic, informative and enjoyable afternoon in this beautiful environment.
