Immerse yourself into the delicious world Indonesian cuisine with a cooking class at the Gili Cooking School. We pride ourselves on only using fresh and seasonal ingredients from nearby producers.

Our classes are taught by Indonesian locals and designed for all levels, from beginner cooks to advanced chefs, from young people to the elderly. Our instructors will ensure you learn plenty of cooking techniques and the basic principles of Indonesian cuisine to take back to your home country.

"Great!"

Too much food to eat!

"Sumbak Balinese cooking classIsiah Rivers"

Wayan’s cooking class was amazing!! He picked us up from our hotel, took us to a rice field to explain how they grow rice in Bali, took us to the local market to explain all the local ingredients we would be using, and then we went to his lovely home in a village 20 minute north of Ubud to cook. You get to make every course and taste alone the way. The final product (9 courses) is incredible! Him and his family are so helpful, kind, and welcoming. Great way to spend the morning or afternoon to get an authentic Balinese experience

"Awesome experience"

We had a wonderful time at the cooking class today. It was great spending time with a Balinese family. It was much more than a cooking class as you got to see a working farm and learn a little more about the Balinese culture. Well worth the money and would recommend if you are staying in the Ubud area

"Lovely and Welcoming"

What a lovely day! We visited the local market, tour the compound and a lively cooking class. Using fresh local ingredients, together we created the best tasting local dishes. The family members were warm, welcoming and generous. Highly recommended to those who would like to get out of Ubud and experience an insight into local family life centred around a cooking class.

"Actual hands on cooking"

We started the day with Wayan Juli picking us up and taking us to the local market in his village. Back to the kitchen, Made was waiting for us, so we started our cooking. We were definitely involved in every step of the dish from chopping to cooking and tasting as well. The meal was wonderful and we had so much fun. Made also gave us all the recipes. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a hands on cooking.
