"Learn to cook ramen and gyoza like a boss!"
No overseas holiday is complete without trying your hand at learning how to cook some of the local cuisine. This class teaches you how to make the three parts of the ramen broth, and then how to combine them into a delicious ramen. You also learn and make your own gyoza, from the filling to making and folding the dumplings, and finally how to cook and fry them perfectly. Highly recommended.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our class with Chagohan. Due to changes in our itinerary in Tokyo we had to change the time of our class several times, but they were very helpful and happy to accommodate our need. We were the only people in our class so we got to have a private session (luck!). The tutors were very friendly and explained the cooking steps very well. We enjoyed the tempura with miso soup at the end of our class and they were delicious! Would definitely come back and try out other classes with them!

"Brilliant introduction into Japanese sweets"
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. The ingredients are simple but the process can be somewhat complicated. I find the difference in sweet making from country to country very interesting from a baking perspective, and Japan is no exception!
Can recommend this to anyone interested in the art of Wagashi, and interested in how it is made to know themselves!

We loved this class! We attended on our first day in Japan, and got a great intro to the local food culture, along with many great recommendations for food shopping and restaurants to try. Learning about the many intricacies and small details involved in making ramen was a lot of fun as well. Finally, our hosts were warm and welcoming, and very patient with our clumsy cooking skills. Thank you so much for this lovely experience!

"Great! Educational, Fun, ...and Delicious!"
Everyone, upon visiting Japan, should take a sushi lesson...So we did.
Among the different sushi lesson offer, we chose this particular one for the CV of the chef, location of the class (central Tokyo) and because on our conversations with the organiser he was approachable and really helpful.
When we arrived, before, during and after our class...we were met with the highest standards...of knowledge, entertainment, and deliciousness...! All our questions were kindly answered and we got to use the chef's 45 year working tool! And we got to taste our own sushi...and that of the chef himself!!
I would, and already have done so, recommend this particular experience 100%!
Thank you so much!

Our cooking experience with Emi was amazing! We arrived early and she was extremely hospitable. Her kitchen was spacious and clean, and Emi spoke English almost perfectly. She was thorough in explanations and processes and took her time. The experience was amazing as we were not rushed, and as a result, the food was great! The sake paired with it was also perfect. Highly recommend this as a must-do for anyone in Tokyo

"Great food with a lovely local"
My friend and I had a great time with Emi! We learned a lot about different flavours in Japanese cuisine and most importantly the food that we cooked was sooo delicious! We are normally not great cooks, but Emi explained everything and made it very easy for us - I will definitely add this dish to my regulars and I bet my friends and family will be quite surprised ;) Plus, Emi is a lovely person and a Tokyo local, so it is great fun to talk to her. We were very happy and we would recommend her course anytime! Thank you, Emi!

"One of a kind experience"
Masa and Junko were very welcoming in their beautiful cooking studio located in a central area of Asakusa (next to Senso-Ji temple). Masa is a great cook and a wonderful teacher, who showed us (and helped us with) the finest techniques of sushi making. The result ended with the most amazing Nigiris my husband and I’ve ever had. Truly a fantastic experience for our honeymoon and we will definetly come back for more sushi making!

"amazing cooking class"
Our cook Maasa and his wife were really great and we learnt so much about nigiri sushi! We had a lucky private class with a lot of nigiri sushis and different fishes to taste.
Also great was the sake tasting and the opportunity to cut the fishes by yourself.
We got to know very important things about the ingredients and we even got a shopping list for our next Nigiri Sushi back home. Thank you for all the tips!
A further lucky point was the mountain experience from Maasa. He told us many great recommendations for hiking in the northern alps and fujisan! So thank you for all these experiences!
We really only recommend a cooking class with this great couple!

Me and my 17 year old son came for the tempura class. This was the first time my son really cooked, and Masa was very patient. He taught us valuable and easy techniques that we can replicate at home. We enjoyed the yummy food we cooked afterwards. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! I plan to come back to Japan and attend another class. I highly recommend this class!

"fantastic experience- covered many of the basics."
My two teenage daughters and I took this class and had a wonderful time. It was a good change of pace for a morning, we had fun and learned skills we can use at home. Masuko was a great teacher, patient and kind and definitely included all of us!
She was able to adapt the menu to exclude red meat which we appreciated. We made dashi, miso soup, tamagoyaki (omelette ) rice balls seasoned with baby sardine sauce, grilled marinated salmon and fish and asparagus rolls( usually beef). It made for a delicious hearty lunch.
Masuko gave us detailed recipe print outs with both writing and photographs . She also told us lots of extra information about techniques, ingredients and equipment - including where to get them in Tokyo.
Overall an experience we’d highly recommend.

A fun and enriching experience for those looking to do something fresh and exciting on their trip to Japan. "A fresh and enriching experience for new and returning visitors to Japan"
Having amazing sushi in japan is one thing, but being able to understand just how much effort goes into carefully molding one simple piece changes your entire perspective on the craft.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at Chagohan. The inside of the cooking lab was warm and inviting, both the owners were extremely pleasant and friendly to the participants and Masa-san (the teacher) is both knowledgeable on all things Japanese cuisine, as well as patient and precise when it comes to teaching. The ingredients were fresh and varied, and the entire experience is both relaxing and fun. I highly recommend you fit this into your itinerary if you're passionate about food, someone who's looking for a change of pace, or somebody who's just looking to dip their toes into Japan.

"One of the most delicious Japanese-style curries I've ever eaten."
Laid back and light-hearted, this class packs great cooking demonstrations and detailed explanations in two hours. I was especially impressed with Ken, our teacher, who provided the history of Japanese curry as well as additional information on sourcing ingredients and different arrangements of the recipe. There was plenty of space to work and ingredients were pre-measured for convenience. However, the experience was very hands-on between chopping, stirring, breading and frying. Definitely include this class in your trip itinerary--whether you're planning on visiting Asakusa or not!

"A truly unique experience"
I can honestly say that taking this cooking class with Comburger was one of the best highlights of my trip. Sato San was an awesome host, very welcoming and super fun to talk to. I was very fortunate to be the only student in his class. We cooked in his kitchen at home which made the experience more like cooking at a friend's house than a class....very warm and relaxing. He taught me how to make miso soup, shiso salad, ginger pork and mixed rice. It was traditional Japanese home cooking at its very best. Everything we made tasted delicious, fresh and healthy. His recipes are easy to follow and the dishes can be replicated at home. I highly recommend taking this class to anyone who wants to learn Japanese cooking.

Two of us took the Okonomiyaki class in Kyoto during the early afternoon time slot. Our host/teacher was Natsumi, and she was an excellent instructor. The space itself is inviting and tranquil, don’t be fooled by the drab exteriors of the buildings in the area around it.

"I loved this class!"
Massa and Yumi are the nicest hosts ever, and their cooking class is nestled right in the heart of Asakusa. The class is 40% listening and 60% cooking which is the right balance for me personally. I really enjoyed learning about each ingredient/process and then trying my hand at prepping my meal. I feel so confident about what I learned that I've tried recreating the meal a couple times at home now! So yummy.
For those who'd like to know, you'll be preparing shoyu ramen. If you're looking for that thick, pork bone one (tonkotsu), you might want to ask Massa and Yumi if they offer that class.
Solo travelers: come hungry or bring a tupperware! I went alone and got a massive plate of gyoza all to myself.

As a Chef, every time I travel to a country I need to do a course or food tour to learn about the native food and cooking. This one does both in an expectacular way. Tsukiji market is a great place to know a lot about food and ingredients used to make them. Our guide, Tak, was great from start to finish, always explaining interesting stuff about what we were seeing at the moment. Last but not least, the sushi making was a great experience to see first hand a experienced chef doing it, and learning every step.
