Join Alex on a journey through the alleys of Dadaocheng, the historic heart of Taipei. As you wander through this vibrant area, you'll hear local stories and gossip while making your way to a traditional market. Along the way, you'll discover an array of local ingredients, have the chance to taste authentic traditional delicacies, and chat directly with local vendors to deepen your appreciation of Taiwanese culture.
Teenage boys from various provinces in China were inadvertently conscripted into Chiang Kai-shek’s army, leaving their homes behind. When the Kuomintang government lost the war, these young men were stranded in Taiwan.
In 1949, the Chinese Civil War left 500,000 soldiers in this isolated state, unable to return home or even send a letter to their families for many decades.
One retired soldier from Sichuan tried to recreate the beef noodle soup his mother used to make, relying solely on his memories of the flavors from his hometown. This bowl of braised beef noodles (牛肉麵) brought him to tears.

You will learn:
- Make noodles from scratch using flour
- Combine and prepare spices
- Stir-fry spices and ingredients
- Cut and stir-fry the beef
- Braise the beef in soup
- Finish your Niu Rou Mian (beef noodle soup)

- This activity is suitable for participants aged 12 and above.
- The activity includes approximately 60 steps. Those who may find this difficult can choose to wait in a shaded area.

《About this class》
Discover the flavors, stories, and rich culture of old Taipei, located in the historic Dadaocheng district. Your experience begins with a guided street and market adventure, where you’ll explore local ingredients, learn about traditional Taiwanese food culture, and soak in the charm of this vibrant neighborhood.
With a maximum of just six participants, each class is intimate, interactive, and designed for authentic hands-on learning.
Alex, the host — warm, friendly, and passionate about sharing — teaches in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, and even a bit of Japanese, making the class welcoming to guests from around the world. You’ll prepare every dish from scratch and gain practical skills you can bring home with you.
《What to cook》
- 《The noodles》
- Make your own noodles from scratch! You'll prepare the dough, roll it out, and hand-cut each piece for a truly authentic experience.
《The broth》
- It begins with stir-frying each ingredient to release its aroma, followed by simmering a rich broth with assorted vegetables and, of course, adding our special secret seasonings.
- 《The spices》
Spices define the soul of Taiwanese Beef Noodles. In this class, you’ll get to know different aromatics and craft your very own signature spice blend to perfect your bowl.
《What's Included》
- A complimentary apron featuring an exclusive logo designed by "BeMyGuest Taipei."
- A selection of beverages: soft drinks, coffee, tea, soda, or beer.
- Recipes provided in English, Japanese, or Mandarin (via digital files).

#Each class requires a minimum of 2 participants. If we don’t reach the minimum, don’t worry—we’ll contact you in advance and offer a reschedule or a full refund at your convenience.
#Come along with your kids (under 12 years old), it'll be free of charge if they don't cook. And they can share your food. If your kids enjoy cooking, please reserve seats for them.#To ensure a safe and focused learning environment for all participants, only registered guests are permitted to join the cooking session. We kindly request that children without a booking do not participate in or assist with the cooking process. However, they are more than welcome to relax in our dedicated resting area, provided the class remains undisturbed. We appreciate your understanding in helping us maintain an intimate experience for everyone.

Transportation:
Take the Taipei MRT Orange Line and get off at Daqiaotou Station. It's a 5-minute walk from Exit 1. Follow the signs and route to Dadaocheng.
