The old Japanese capital is an epitome of the archetypal Japanese cultural town, and is filled with innumerable shrines and palaces. Our cooking classes will take you back to Kyoto’s imperial days with some classes taking place in a traditional Japanese house where you will learn how to make authentic Japanese food. For the time strained we even offer a 2.5 hour class where you can make easy to cook traditional Japanese dishes. We also offer unique options where you can prepare your own Japanese Bento box or visit a local market to collect your ingredients to cook with.

I went with my family and we made the flower sushi. The teachers were extremely kind and helpful and went out of their way to make it an enjoyable experience for us all. I am vegetarian and I was very happy that they changed the ingredients for me so I could still eat the sushi that I had made. They had many beautiful kimono options and I really enjoyed dressing up. The teacher wore a full kimono outfit and even explained the different parts to us and helped us to learn more about the Japanese culture. I would recommend this to anyone interested in a really fun hands on experience where you can learn more about the culture and meet new people. They speak English quite well and we were able to communicate easily.

I had a really fun time making dried sweets and learning all about the tea ceremony. It was really cool to have hands on experience as both a guest for the tea ceremony and get a chance to prepare the tea as well!

My daughter and I had a wonderful cooking experience with Haruko. We learned to make a basic dashi broth, carrot salad, a sesame spinach dish, okonomiyaki, and mochi tofu balls with fruit. Haruko’s instructions were very clear and everything was well organized. We received printed recipes with coloured photos with which to follow along. The meal was delicious! We also got some insight into Japanese customs and way of life. As we were leaving, we got a surprise gift of a sesame grinder, okonomiyaki sauce, and mochi flour. Haruko kindly came downstairs with us to point the way to the nearest bus stop. Altogether a very satisfying evening. Now to have an okonomiyaki party at home!

We wanted to experience local cooking class to not only learn new and yummy dishes to prepare at home but it’s also a wonderful way to meet locals to share different traditions and styles of life. Our teacher, Haruko was friendly, affable and eager to share her knowledge about Japanese culture, customs and food. She was flexible and consulted with us about dietary concerns and food preferences. We made delicious side dishes, two types of okonomiyakis and dessert. Highly recommended- Domo!

"Unique and warm experience"
This class was everything I was personally hoping for. The instructor was very well versed in english, the location was a profesional one, meaning that this was nobody home but a kitchen studio with all the facilities that you would want and the menu was at the same time simple to repeat it at home but delicious and VERY japanese. It was an excellent experience.

"Enjoyable and easy to follow cooking class"
Had a great time making our own bento box. Class size was perfect (5 people) to ensure that we could all follow along and receive assistance from the instructors. Food was delicious and fresh. Would recommend if you’re wanting to learn the basics of japanese cooking.

We had a marvellous experience with Haruko to prepare a traditional japanese meal. Haruko is explaining very well and the lunch was just delicious ! She let us participate to prepare and that was really nice to understand the recipe. Also she chose ingredients we can find in Europe so, back home, it was possibe to prepare it again. It was just like home because Haruko is a very nice person. Peaceful athmosphere and sharing experience. We hope to do it again !!!!! Thank you so much Haruko.

"One of a Kind Experience"
My love for ramen brought me here at Japan. Overjoyed that I made a great ramen with my own hands out from raw ingredients. I thought the process was really hard, but because of the instructions and expert teacher who helped us, the cooking experience became fun and easy! Such a fulfillment! It was fun making my own ramen! I have to be honest that this is one of a heaven experience! The great part is, I made it vegan! Perfect for me! Highly recommend this cooking class!

"Satisfying and Insightful"
Cooking in the middle of the city on a very traditional atmosphere. This is a very authentic way to get to know Japan and their culture. I was very impressed about this cooking class. The chef was very knowledgeable and professional. The kitchen staff was accommodating too and everything from the transportation to the kitchen was organized. The tour guide picked me up from the hotel then we were brought to the kitchen along with other tourists of the group. The chef introduced Japan briefly and proceeded with the demonstration. She taught us a lot of famous Japanese cuisines Okonomiyaki and Gyoza. We also had a complimentary tea tasting afterwards. I was amazed on how i was able to prepare and recreate the dishes myself. Thanks to the chef!
