This was an incredible, authentic experience. We made some of the best ramen we’ve ever had in a hands on cooking class right in Hide’s kitchen. Since his kitchen is small, it was just our family, which made the experience feel personal and relaxed. Exactly what we were hoping for. We learned about the different types of soy sauce and tasted them side by side, then made fresh ramen noodles, homemade broth, and delicious chashu pork from scratch. Everything was absolutely delicious. Hide was also wonderful with our boys, making it a great experience for the whole family. We couldn’t recommend it more highly.
This cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip. We booked a private session for two people, and the intimate setting made the experience feel very personal and authentic. Our instructor was extremely organized and got started right away. She has a lively and energetic personality, which meant we were able to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. We learned so much about traditional Japanese home cooking and gained valuable insights into everyday Japanese food culture through recipes that have been passed down in her family. What made the experience even more special was the personal touch throughout the class. We were able to taste homemade yuzu sake prepared by her mother, which was a unique and memorable experience. As a calligraphy master, she also wrote a few things for us in Japanese and gave them to us as keepsakes—a thoughtful gesture and a wonderful souvenir to take home. The food was delicious, the instruction was clear, and the entire experience was both educational and enjoyable. We highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a genuine and memorable cultural experience in Japan.
Megumi is a very kind and open person, we felt very comfortable with her. She warmly welcomed us into her home, where we learned a lot about Japanese cuisine and culture. The food was incredibly delicious, and we had a wonderful conversation. Overall, we had a fantastic evening and learned a lot!
We had never made onigiri before but this class made it very easy to understand. Would absolutely recommend!
Thank you for the great experience🙏🏻 We came as a family of three with our little baby and everything worked out perfectly.
It was a really nice experience ! We cooked delicious udon, tempura and omelette, and then we had the pleasure to discover calligraphy and go home with a lot of them. Perfect cooking class !
It was such a pleasure to enjoy a moment and learn how to make rolled sushis with Sato ! The class turned into a family lunch thanks to the friendly atmosphere and good spirits. A wonderful time spent together with a genuine Japanese cook Highly recommended!
The overall experience was great!! It was amazing to learn from scratch how to cook the sushi rice to how to prepare the final dishes. I loved being able to experience Japanese culture as a vegan. Totally recommend learning to prepare sushi with Meg!
Satoro is a wonderful chef and instructor. I took away so much from this class, but the most important was that he showed us how to make the perfect Japanese style Dashi. He explained how versatile the broth is and how it can be used in so many different dishes. I highly recommend this class if you want to learn Japanese style home cooking. Thank you, Satoro.
My husband and I had an absolutely amazing time taking this gyoza class. Meg was a wonderful host and a great teacher, and we enjoyed chatting with her so much! The gyoza came out so tasty- we can’t wait to make it again when we return home. Thank you for everything, Meg! We’ll see you at the next class.
Kurina is such a lovely person to talk with and a very knowledgeable tutor. I learned so much more through our conversations than the actual tofu making. This was hands on, our tofu was very tasty and I feel confident to try making this at home now. Lunch was delicious and beautifully presented. This class was a highlight of my trip!
The four of us booked the cooking class and received a very warm welcome from Meg in her small kitchen. Everything was perfectly prepared, and we could get started right away. Meg gave excellent instructions and explanations about the ingredients and umami flavors. We prepared two fillings for the giozas, which were steamed and fried. There was also a noodle soup, which is very quick to make at home and was absolutely delicious. We ate traditionally on the floor in the upstairs room. The recipes were also sent out very quickly after the class. All in all, a very successful evening! Many thanks to Meg for her open, positive, and cheerful personality :-) Our only suggestion for the booking platform: a small discount for booking four people would be appreciated.
My husband and I were lucky enough to have a private Ramen preparation lesson with Chef Yoshi and Amo. Both Yoshi and Amo are warm and knowledgeable hosts . They provided easy and fun class that resulted in a delicious steaming bowl of ramen and pork dumplings! be sure to ask for the hot pepper spice if you like your ramen with a kick. We left with full bellies and fond memories. I highly recommend.
We immediately felt right at home, as Meg created such a welcoming atmosphere. Her knowledge and tips on making vegan sushi were very helpful. We really enjoyed the cooking class and are really grateful that we had the chance to meet Meg during our trip to Japan. The food was so delicious that we went home not only happy and with full stomachs, but also with full hearts. If we had stayed in Tokyo any longer, we would have booked another cooking class with her right away. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and for introducing us to Japanese culture.
To start with, Kaori picked us up and took us to the supermarket. Her explanation of the ingredients we were using was very helpful. We then went to her home and got started with the cooking. Kaori explained every step very clearly in her excellent English. She also taught us Japanese words and phrases that are very useful in everyday life. The gyoza and the ramen were so delicious, and we’re already looking forward to recreating the recipes at home. To our surprise, there was even a dessert, which we made using the leftover gyoza wrappers, apple and cinnamon. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, which we can highly recommend to everyone.
