The class was super interesting and I felt really comfortable the whole time. We didn’t only got to know the Balinese kitchen but also gained an authentic and intimate insight into the life of the people here. We cooked at the teacher‘s beautiful traditional house. We got so many tips and Information on the ingredients and how to cook them at home in Europe :) The dishes were delicious! Our teacher always had helpful answers to all our questions and was a nice and funny guy. He also offered us to answer further questions on Facebook etc. when we‘ll come along some at home. So far it was my best experience in Bali, definitely recommend this class! Thank you!!!!
Brilliant class from Nyoman. We were welcomed into his family home where we learnt so much about Balinese family life and culture which was very interesting. We visited a local market where all the produce and market culture was explained to us before the cooking class begun. The cooking class itself was run very, very smoothly and gave an amazing insight to Balinese food and ingredients, the food was brilliant. Thanks so much to Nyoman and his family for an amazing day! This is an absolute must do for anyone in Bali!
My partner and I are both professional cooks in San Francisco. We came to Bali specifically to learn Balinese flavors and traditional dishes. We chose Tresna Bali Cooking School based on recommendation from another chef in Los Angeles. Chef Adi and Frances are very responsive from the day we booked our private class via email. Everything was organized, we know what we're going to cook prior to us getting there. We were picked up at 6 am at our hotel in Ubud. We requested to cook Balinese suckling pig and side dishes that normally come with the pig, that's why the day started super early. We prepped everything together, it was a labor intensive and very hands-on class, which is exactly what we wanted. We did about 10 dishes all together (plus the 60 lb pig). We ended the class by feasting together with the staff. We learned SO MUCH from Chef Adi and Frances, and I have been cooking the dishes here because they are just so delicious and I am craving them. Haven't had the chance to cook the whole pig here in the U.S., but I've been roasting pork loin with the Balinese spices thanks to the recipes that were emailed to us after the class. Thank you Chef Adi and Frances for opening up your beautiful kitchen to us. Thank you for working side by side with us throughout the class and together we created an amazing Balinese suckling pig lunch. It was truly memorable, and probably the highlight of our Bali trip. Thanks again for everything. We will be back soon!
From the time of pickup to drop off at our Ubud villa, they were welcoming, professional yet fun and shared lots of knowledge. We had a great group of fellow cooks from around the world which was also lovely. The menu was varied and could easily be made to suit those with preferences or restrictions. They welcomed us into their family home which was a wonderful experience to see how locals have traditionally and still live. Really enjoyed the day and highly recommend it.
It was a plesaure to cook with kdongding! They were so friendly and welcomed us in their family. We learned so much about the Religion, Temple, ingredients of our food and how they live. The english was really good and he knows some vegetables in german. We laughed the whole time it was so fun. And the food was also really good. We would do the cooking class again! Thank you for this nice experience. Greetings Family Elsässer
